| Top knot crisis... Well not really, but we are in need of some direction. LOL. Basically I have no idea how to properly do one. I really want to get this: Darlin Dump Truck Boy Bow Kaos's daddy is a construction worker, so I think I will be able to get away with putting this bow on him. Now where in the world do I start? What else do I need? I'm a bit embarrassed to ask, but would really appreciate any tips, tricks, or advice. And of course pictures! I am a visual learner. I put his hair up earlier to see how he would react, and of course he didn't care. Don't laugh...welllll go ahead laugh. (I know its wrong scrunchie but its all I had atm and I was super curious)

| Lol, the title and then Kaos' pic made me laugh...he's so cute and he looks like he just goes with the flow. I use the tiny clear bands, you can get them at walmart in the regular hair accessories section. I put the band on my pointer finger while I use a brush to gather Pita's hair on top of her head then I take the band and stretch it from my pointer finger to my thumb, that way I can pinch the gathered hair between the two fingers and pull the band down around the hair, then I just twist it and loop it around twice and ta-da! Then you take the bow, it may be easier for you to start with one that has an alligator clip vs the band, then just clip and go. Here is a pic of Pita with just a band and then one with the bow. |

| I purchased some bows from www.bowbizdogbows.com and they have a tutorial both written and video that explains how to do a top knot. Hope this helps!

| I use the clear bands to but Sadie hates it, She will only leave it in long enough for Daddy to see then it comes out. I put one in a Molly and she did not have a problem with it so maybe she will be a dog that likes her hair done

| Practice for the squirming issure. Bailey never had a problem as a puppy. Know all I do is put both of my knees up and Bailey lounges on them while I brush and put it in, I could go for days and she doesn't move... usually she falls asleep while I brush it, braid it, expirament with it, tie it, bow it, top knot it. Bailey doesnt really care, but sometimes when we get back from walks and going out she will like wrestle with her self on the floor to get it off and then I come and look at her and she looks like a lion! Then I just say, wheres your bow?! And she runs and picks it up and drops it at my foot after she attacked it. Sorry, my little story! Just feed the dog treats if she/he is good and then when your done give another treat... I mean thats what I would do. Keep on repeating this everyday in short bits. The way I do my babes hair(I dont really like the top knot look on her, so its just a pony tail because she has a small face) just put it up in the clear bands and then attach the clip under neath! And bam' your done! Sorry- this was long |

| How much hair are you grabbing? You might be able to get away with grabbing more hair since Kaos seems to have silky hair. I have to grab less because Kaji has a thick, unruly Afro hair. His topknot is less hair, but still thick.

| His topknot just seemed so thin! Now I know why. Mommy, you'll just have to wait for your little man's hair to grow. You can get him use to having things in his hair by using clips, and little clasps. When it comes to an actual topknot with a bow, I put Kaji's hair up with a tiny elastic first, and then clip on the bow. I order my bows to have an alligator clip. Try work the best for Kaji's hair.

| I think the art of the topknot is a personal thing. The way they do it for show dogs is very intricate but the at home style is what looks cute on your baby and comes with practice. I certainly am no expert but since I like long hair I grew his hair out after I had it cut when he was about 6 months old. It took time to grow and we're still working on it and trying to grow it out since I used to trim near his eyes. He's almost 2. At home I like to use a scrunchie because they don't seem to tangle or rip up his hair very much. When we go out I use little rubber bands. They stay in better. As far as bows go I had to ease his Daddy into the idea. I got Deuce a bow with a motorcycle on it and hubby liked it. Now we have a few manly themed bows.
