I think the art of the topknot is a personal thing. The way they do it for show dogs is very intricate but the at home style is what looks cute on your baby and comes with practice. I certainly am no expert but since I like long hair I grew his hair out after I had it cut when he was about 6 months old. It took time to grow and we're still working on it and trying to grow it out since I used to trim near his eyes. He's almost 2. At home I like to use a scrunchie because they don't seem to tangle or rip up his hair very much. When we go out I use little rubber bands. They stay in better. As far as bows go I had to ease his Daddy into the idea. I got Deuce a bow with a motorcycle on it and hubby liked it. Now we have a few manly themed bows.
