| Puupy Food/Adult Food Little Wylie is 5-1/2 months old now and I was wondering at what age do you normally starts to transition from Puppy Food to Adult Food. I have heard small breeds are usually adult size around 6 months. Thanks in advance |

| I took Riley off of "Puppy" food at around 8-months. He eats raw in the mornings and Acana Kibble at night. The Acana Kibble is an "all stages" food. |

YT 1000 Club Member | Riley, You're probably going to get a range of answers on this, many don't make their pups wait very long, and others do. I'll say this, that being that Puppy Food is better for a Pup, so, IF you can hold them to eating it longer, that's probably better. I leave food out for mine 24/7. Both of mine are "polite" eaters, and don't gobble everything up, when it's time to eat. Both have their own schedule, and eat twice a day, 4am/4pm on their own. I have both Adult and Puppy Dogs, and when MY Female Becca arrived I put Puppy Food out for her. She (again on her own) ate that for several months, and changed over to the Adult Food, that was always out for My Male Sneakers. I've tried 1/2/3 times a day, attempting to create "my" schedule for them. Didn't work ! Best thing I did, was leave them alone, and they are doing just fine without my intervention. Maybe this way will work well for you.

| I have always been told and have read...That a puppy should be on puppy food for the first year...than switch to adult food at a year old. And a puppy doesn't stop growing until they are a year to 18 mos old. They may not grow much height wise after a year...but they start filling out body wise...this is what I have seen with my yorkies over the past 15 years that I have owned one. I have a 7 1/2 mos old pup and he is nowhere near full grown.

| 8 Months or so I am thinking. Basil is going to be 5 1/2 months and plan on switching him to Merrick Adult at around 8+ months. He is now on Merrick Puppy Plate. He likes it. Remember to switch gradually over several days. Best of luck. |
