| Bath Time? Okay quick question. With my Cairns, since the get stripped/plucked, we don't really bathe them that often unless they get dirty. I know Yorkies have more hair like fur then fur fur, so I'm curious how often is okay to bathe them? I've read a couple of different sources and both say different things. Besides, I trust you gals and guys on here more. And since we're on that topic, for trimming nails, I use the Peticure on my Cairns, but it seems that Gizmo's tootsies are too small for that. Any suggestions? Thanks! Love, the owner of a stinky Yorkie.

| I've bathed Princess since she got home & every weekend there after, except after her spay. I have to take her to the groomer or vets for nails as she goes spaztastic! But I know a lot of people do them themselves on here.

| Levi gets a bath probably every 7-10 days, unless he needs one before that. He loves to be a crazy little wild man and spends a lot of time outside, so he tends to get dirty pretty quickly. And since he sleeps in the bed with me...he needs to be squeaky clean. I've never attempted to clip his nails myself. I let his groomer/vet/Petsmart take care of those.

| I bathe Alice once a week and from what I've seen on different threads here, once every 1 - 2 weeks is typical. Just make sure you're using a really good dog shampoo and conditioner otherwise they can get dry. Check the "grooming" section, there's tons of product reccomendations. Sorry I can't help with the Pedicure thing, I use regular pet nail clippers, the small "cat" ones work best for Yorkies.

♪♥ Jazi & Izi's Mom ♥♫ Donating Member | My Cairn doesn't get as dirty as my Yorkie but...Ms. Jazi my Yorkie is only 16 weeks old and still making some mistakes in her crate training so she's getting bathed more often. I'm interested in the answers here too. Izi, my Cairn, lets me cut her nails now that she's almost 4. She's become very gentle and loves to be groomed.

| I bathe mine about every two weeks. The most important thing is to find a good shampoo and conditioner. If you find something that is gentle on their skin/ hair you can really bathe them as often as you like with no issues. I use EQyss Shampoo and Kiehls conditioner, although I am dying for their next bathe because I have a sample of PEK conditioner to try and am very excited for it

| I use a shampoo, ahh I'm too lazy to look under the sink, but it's sulfate and salt free, has tea tree oil in it to cleanse the skin and I guess is tear free. Got it from the organic section. But yeah, I was giving Giz a bath every week, simply because he can be a little stink pot. Making sure that's okay.

| I bathe ZoE once a week. I trim her nails with large people toenails clippers and file the ends smooth. I'm fortunate that she is easy to work with. I've had her since she was six weeks old & deliberately touched her ears, paws, mouth, and brushed her since day one. Now at 18 weeks old she is very easy to groom.

| Presto gets a bath every 2 weeks I use pet silk moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. I comb him daily though! For nails, there are some puppy size nail trimmers. I can send you links for a few options if you like! |

| I bathe my little ones every 7-10 days in the winter (depending on how cold it is) and every week in the summer. In the winter I blow dry their hair and in the summer I let them air dry I have to alternate shampoo and conditioner every 3 moths or so because I have a feeling that they are just like me and get itchy with the same shampoo if used too long. The vet said to bathe them every 1 or 2 months because their skin gets dry. I tried it once for about 3 weeks and, oh no, they didn't like it and neither did I (they got itchy anyway). I believe that they feel better when they're clean, because Nini walks with a little more flair in her step and Nicky...well he's a boy and is happy being nice and filthy, but when he's clean, mommy can't get enough of him and he likes that The nails...I don't dare, yet

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Taycie gets a bath every Sunday... and sometimes sooner.. The family I work for is doing major construction on their home right now, and since Taycie goes to work with me during the week, combined with the construction dust and her long hair she gets really dirty quick, so sometimes Fridays is our bath days... I want to try PEK so bad!

| In the summer and nicer weather its once a week but in the winter I space it out more and just do it when she needs it around every two weeks. I never trim Callies nails tho that scares me I let the vet or groomer do it.

| I juts gave Gizmo a bath, and he is not happy with me at all. However, I noticed when I was blow drying him that he had dandruff. I may need to find a shampoo that's a little more moisturizing. I look over the previous replies and see if I can find any of those shampoos, something more geared towards Yorkie fluff!
