| Really? So it's that time of year here in GA. It's getting hotter and we have deaths every year from people leaving their KIDS (both kinds) in the car! This week alone I have come across 3 incidences where there were dogs left in cars while people shopped. Of course the windows were down and some all the way down. (Not safe for dog or strangers.) The next person I see that does that I might just give them a fur coat, raise their body temp and stick them in a car in 80 degree weather and tell them in a sweet voice "mommy will be right back". But really? is that necessary? Is it just me? Okay I think I'm having a grumpy day. All who know me know I only say nice things but come on really? Thanks for listening I feel better now.

| This is definitely something that needs to be addressed! I wish they would pass a law making this a criminal act with absolutely no excuses and severe penalties. There is no excuse for pets or children to ever be left in a car alone, regardless of weather.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Good post - it's weather AND the possibility of theft people need to think about - I hate seeing any dog in a car - and have seen people 'run' into stores for 'just a minute' - it only TAKES a minute for something to happen in our world these days The cops are better about things when a dog is reported in a car - but it's up to PEOPLE to notice and alert them - it happens all the time.....and dogs die all the time |

| Having lived in AZ for 10 years these are some of my recommendations: Summary of Animal Cruelty Laws ASPCA | State Animal Cruelty Laws Welcome to the Georgia Humane Society Website! Find out what the laws are in your state. IN AZ it was and is illegal to leave a dog in the car. If illegal call the police. Check with any of the above organizations to see if they have any information to help you. We also had stickers made up to put on people's cars explaining the laws to them and did they know their dog could die within 15 minutes? Many children and animals die in cars because of how stupid people are. I might add the police would get there ASAP and break the windows into the car...and the people couldn't do a darn thing since what they did was illegal. The police were wonderful in AZ about this. Use them and don't be afraid...you are saving an animals life. Good Luck.

| People can be so careless at times. I told a security guard at a grocery store about a dog left in a car, and of course all of the windows were closed. By the time I left the store, I saw two police cars out there dealing with the situation. There is no way I could walk by and do nothing.

| FYI: Just to inform everyone that there are some cars (like mine) that have a system where once turned off it can be set to keep the cool temp for 30 min...while the car is OFF. Please realize this when you see some...I said some not all...especially a luxury brand auto, because most of them come with that feature. Not trying to sound snobby here. I just want people aware that some of us do buy auto's for the perks

I would also say if it is illegal it wouldn't matter if it did stay cool...

| I think it is sheer stupidity to leave a dog or child in a hot car, even for one second, yet I'm sure I will be reading or hearing about this very thing happening again and again in the near future

I have had to make a stop into the store to pickup something quick on our way home and I use that feature. I used it when it was cold outside (to keep warm) and I've used it since we've warmed up (to keep cool) I take Cerise with me almost everywhere on weekends, with the exception for serious grocery shopping because I do that on my way home from work about once a month. Understand this is for about 5 mintues max (maybe up to 7) and there is also a light on the dash that also states the temperature inside for anyone to see. I don't think it's illegal here but I will find out. Because I would be upset if someone broke into my car calling themselves trying to save her when it wouldn't be so.

LOL! They never advertise it. What's even crazier is I have a girlfriend here that has owned an E-Class for 5 years and she never knew it came with that feature. She was shocked when I told her one day when she was worrying about some leftover food spoiling from a restaurant (she wanted to go shopping after we ate lunch)
