| Spotlight GPS pet locator Just curious if anyone had ever heard of this. GPS Pet Locator, GPS Dog Collar, GPS Pet Tracker, SpotLight - PAW Inc. It's a small GPS tracker you can put on your dogs collar (or harness, I suppose). It's quite expensive, at around $250. You do have to have a plan to go with it but there's three options and some of the plans are inexpensive (I think cheapest is like $7.99/month) But if you go take the tour and explore how the product works, it explains everything to you. I was thinking it MAY be something worth looking into just for more added safety/peace of mind. Jackson is microchipped but that's not a tracker. We live on 3 acres with 90 acres of farmland behind us. While most of the time I keep Jackson on a leash, 99% of the time he's great running around off-leash. There's that 1% of the time though where he wanders/takes off and it scares me. We've gotten him back the few times he's done it but if he were to ever go really far... I think it'd be amazing to just be able to log online OR on my phone and see exactly where he's at. You can also set up safety zones and once he goes past a certain area, it alerts you via your phone or e-mail. Seems like a really cool idea.

| I think it is a fabulous idea BUT it is very expensive. I am hoping a lot of people will buy these and then the cost will come down...

| I would LOVE to get one of those but the price is way out of my price range. Of course I wished I would have had this when my Cookie went missing over 3 weeks ago. I have seen a gps tracker like this one but it was like half the price and there is no monthly service. You can track it yourself online or your cell phone. I have to get that link again! I wish the technology was already designing microchip GPS for dogs. I'm sure this has been designed but not for consumers , maybe for the military ... and I'm sure the price for that right now are thousands of dollars Gen |

| I visited their website - looks like service is free for the first year. Makes a little more reasonable. |

If you happen to find the link for the other one, let me know. I also saw some cheaper ones but they all had so-so reviews and the radius only went so far, like 1-4 miles.

Remember, with a stolen dog the collar probably won't remain with the dog, but it'll sure help determine the direction it was taken when it's found, or it might even be in the perp's garbage can. | |

Depending on how much Xmas cash I get () I may look into it. Like I said, my main purpose for it would be if he gets loose on the farm behind our house... it's 90 acres of farmland behind us w/ woods and there IS a neighborhood past the woods. And I like being able to let him off leash sometimes when I'm out there with him, and he's usually good, but sometimes the stinker decides to run.

| I was thinking about this last night, do they have some sort of device that you can attach to your dogs collar the beeps if the leaves the door way or yard to alert you , My friend has a handicapp child he often escapes the house , she purchase this thing that if he crosses the doorstep it sets of a BIG alarm it also works if he leaves thier fenced in yard. I wonder if they have something similar for animals, I think this would be soo helpful or at least give people a head start!

It did say that this spotlight gps detector will do that too... you can set up safe zones, etc so if they leave a certain area, you get alerted via your phone. But I've seen a few things strictly for that purpose and not a gps as well. It's basically an invisible fence w/o a shock collar. I wish I could find it. I believe I saw it on Amazon once. Here's a couple others... Amazon.com: Zoombak ZMBK100 Advanced GPS Dog... Amazon.com: GARMIN 010-11049-00 Astro DC 30...
