| Doesn't sound like a bad habit, sounds like he needs to pee and you either need to get up and let him out or train him to use a peepee pad in the night. He's being a good boy and letting you know he needs to go potty. You might try taking up his water bowl around 8pm so he doesn't tank up on water before he goes to bed. I have my 2 trained to peepee pads so when they wake up in the night, they just use the pad and then come right back to bed. |

| It's not a bad habit if he's waking you because he has to potty, it's good training. He doesn't want to potty in the house, but if you don't let him out he's left with no choice. Since this is a sudden new behavior it could be a sign of a urinary track infection. In other words, he can't help it that he has to go potty. If he was mine, I'd take him to the vet and have him checked over. It can be easily cleared up with medication.

| Not Unsual, You're Yorkie is A Good Dog There are times when our Bella wakes up in the middle of the night and has to potty. Sometimes both. We have come to accept that she, like people, doesn't always stay to here normal schedule. So I would suggest getting up with your Yorkie and allowing him to potty as usual. He's having an accident because he has to go. You've obviously done a GREAT job with potty training. Don't be frustrated, you both deserve positive recognition for your good team effort. |

| My Dog Daisy who is 5 still sometimes will wakes me up in the middle of the night and I take her bc I know myself sometimes I don't go through the night so how can I expect her too. At least he is waking you up. Maybe you should watch what kind of snacks you are giving him bc he obviously is drinking more water than usual when he does this. That is what I have noticed with Daisy if she has too many treats or table food she wakes up to go potty. You have to admit when we are thristy we drink and we have to get up also........so of course your lil guy has to also! |

| I agree, he's doing what you want/trained him to, tell you he needs to go outside. Sometimes Emmy will wake me to go out, but I usually get up at least once to visit the bathroom myself so I will go ahead and take her potty too. |

| I agree, good job with the training! Uni wakes up at 5am to go. She uses pee pads, but it is in the sun room and the door is closed, so I have to go with her downstairs and open it for her. I need to train her to open my bedroom door and the sun room door Oh and to flush her own poops too. LOL
