| Well Tucker kinda looked the same before and after. I guess his were pretty small. The doc said they both dropped though. Tucker has a faint little scar. You would have to be looking for it on Tucker to know it was there. |

Thor's Human Donating Member | Ha, I sort of went through the same thing. I knew Thor was neutered, but apparently male dogs have these two OTHER glands at the base of their penis that stand out when they are excited (not necessarily in the sexual way). One day I was playing with Thor and they popped out, and I freaked. I thought he had some kind of horrible medical issue where his testes had migrated through his stomach. Anyway, a male dog's testes hang in a sac underneath his anus. You may still be able to see the "containers", but they shrivel up. I'm surprised he was already neutered, how old is he? Also, a neutered male generally has a small scar running down his penis.

| Plus a faint scar could be evident.

| I'm assuming that he is very young. When they are small puppies sometimes the testicles have not dropped and their would not be a "sack" visible from a neuter. If you look for a scar and you do not see one you have 2 choices~ask your vet and he will be able to feel for testicles during an exam or if he has not been neutered they will eventually appear with maturity.

| well riley was about 8 1/2 months old when he was neutered...i paid extra for breeder to do it cause i would not have much time to take care of him after his surgery...anyhow don't see two 'testicle like' things just some sort of folded skin...hmmm...guess i should just ask the vet thanks!!!!!!!

| I agree, he's neutered. Barley's were purple and swollen when I got him (from a rescue group). My vet wasn't even sure he was neutered at first and had to put him under some high powered light to exam.

| Sounds like he's neutered. I don't have a boy Yorkie, but I have 3 male cats that were and that is what their's look like, too. |

| This is an old posting but I'm trying to get answers to a problem I have with my Tobias. First off, I would like to say, "THERE ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS!" and it's sad that wasn't said to her. What the hey are we here for if not to answer questions. Sweetheart, it was not stupid. You just didn't know the answer and that's okay. One comment was rude and COULD have been said a nicer way. Especially not knowing the age of the dog. Most people get puppies and sometimes it is VERY difficult to see an incision. Obviously, he was neutered. He definately would have had testicles or at least one showing in the scrotum at that age. |

When I go the email notification with your post I could not remember this thread at all and what the stupid question even was. So I came to look and see what was so rude about what was going on with the thread~now after reading through all of the answers which IMO are not rude, I really have to ask~ Godislove~What is your question that you are trying to get answered by posting to this thread?

The 3 Musketeers Donating Member | Since you just got him, having a vet check him out is a very good thing to do. This way the vet can not only check if he's been neutered but can also get a base line for your little guys future vet appointments.

As for retained teeth, it is very important that any retained teeth be removed for proper oral hygiene. Many small dog such a Yorkie are prone to issues with their teeth. Brushing is not sufficient to remove food from between teeth that have been retained. There are many people on the board that have had teeth removed during a spay/neuter. The puppy teeth have very shallow roots and many time it is just included in the cost of the spay/neuter. I have never personally read or heard from any members on YT having an issue with retained teeth being removed during a neuter. From my personal experience Doodlebug was 5 months and he did not need any removed. Pebbles has 3 removed and she was also around the same age and has no adverse issues afterward. Bogey was over a year and had both issues that you are inquiring about and did not have any problem during or after surgery. The vet removed 1 puppy tooth during his neuter and he did not have any problems eating etc after surgery and his oral hygiene (breath) was so much better without his little extra fange (canine) Pretty standard for these little guys as retained teeth is very common and need to be addressed. If you need additional information, I would like to once again suggest that you start a separate thread in the General Forum. I am sure that other members will also be able to give you their experience as well as in site into your questions. Good luck with Tobias and his neuter on the 20th. BTW~welcome to YT
