| 1+1+1=3 I just might be crazy! I have my two yorkies who I adore. My hubby is a truck driver over the road and I am a full time student and stay at home wife. I thought that getting Ryder my almost 9 month old pup that I would have my hands full with training, well he is excellent, he has the best personality and has been a breeze. Anyways, lately I have been thinking about children and I know that is not the right step for us at this point in time. My hubby is gone to often and I would rather wait until he can be home more often. So I keep looking at getting another yorkie. I would like this time to add a puppy who is AKC and possibly get into showing (although I have no experience but would love that opportunity.) Well just thought I would rant and rave about how I keep adding little loves to our family! Any advice from those with 3 or more? Roxie is going to be 3 in August and Ryder will be a year in October. Should I look at a female or male? How do yours get along? Anything would be great.

| I don't have advice with having 3 or more but I thought I could share some advice and something to think about. I am just assuming that you may be a littler bit younger just like me. You mention your not ready for children yet. I think it is a good idea to get a third if you don't plan on having alot of children any time soon. I have two dogs and a toddler. I know I'd love a second yorkie but it is alot of work having young children to raise and lots of dogs. Some dogs may get neglected, you get really busy running around taking care of EVERYBODY. lol I just hope you take into consideration any BIG commitments you may have and it would be a shame if things didn't turn out good, I'd hate to have to rehome one of my dogs. Not saying you would I know it is tough having just two dogs and having to go on a trip or want to have another child. I don't think I could handle it! Just think ahead!! |

| I can totally see your point Quote:
I think that we have been so lucky to have the two great dogs that we do and if we are wanting another it would work out well since I am home to train and be attentive, rather than once we do have children. Thanks again for repyling.

| I saw where you said that you were younger. Three dogs and a child or 2 will be HARD. Plus maybe working..your hands will be full! I work in "placement" of dogs and I see so many "bounce" (out of the home) because of the addition of children. Think long and hard about this and your TIME... I had 3 dogs and two children. I didn't add to the dogs until the kids were older...around 10-12 years. They were pretty much done with Mom at that stage Good Luck!!

YT Addict | I think is great you want another one. I have three myself and sell my moms puppies when her yorkies have a litter. So i have 5 or 6 sometimes in my house at one time. I think they are great my dogs are so well behaved i have no problems with them at all. Once potty training was done they never give me problems. |

| I say go for it! If you think that you can handle the responsibility, then why not? I have three children ages 4, 5, and 6, and two dogs (a Yorkie and a pug). I wouldn't hesitate to get another Yorkie (actually Dh and I have been discussing it). Anyways, my Dh works ALOT of overtime, and I take care of everything around the home. Even with 3 young children, I know that I could easily handle a 3rd dog, but everyone is different. As long as you have alot of patience, it can be done.

| I have 4...3 males and 1 female. It is a lot of work to take care of that many. They all got along great up until a few weeks ago. Two of my males started fighting. It got to the point that i had to keep them separated. Right now all 4 are at the vets...they all got neutered and the female got spayed...im hoping that will help with the fighting. Other than that...they are great!

| I'm not you but I would say go for it! I have three children (four if you count hubby lol) and my yorkie and I would get another one in a split second. I am also going to school full time (thankfully it is online). I to am young, I will be 25 next month.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I say go for it/ Sounds like you have spent a lot of time training the 2 you have to be well behaved and since children are not in the near future and you are home a lot sounds like a great time to add a third. i have 3 and until my pom passed had 4. I had a yorkie when my dtr was born 24 years ago and he never lost any attention. He was a family member too.

| When my kids were little-2 and an infant, I got my 2nd dog; although both were big dogs. The pup was no problem at all with the kids. I think it depends upon the dog and kids. Now that my kids are teenagers, we have 1 big dog 1 medium and 3 small dogs. My latest addition was a 2nd rescued yorkie. She has sure put a stop to adding any more for me. Its not her its my teenagers. Luli (my rescue) is 8yrs old and not housebroken and hates cats. The kids refuse to leave her in the kitchen and let her run the house when I am not there because they feel sorry for her. It was so much easier when the kids were little. |

| Thanks! Thanks for all your responses, I am not quite sure yet, but we will see what the future brings. I love my two but after learning and gaining more and more knowledge I really am interested in showing. We will see what the future brings for us. It may or may not work at this point but it is always a thought.
