| Greetings! I'm a yorkie newb and I'm so glad I've found this forum to learn about Yorkies. My wife has been wanting one for some time, so I'm in the market I guess you could said. But before we take that leap, I want to learn as much as I can about them so I know that we're right for whatever yorkie we bring home and that the yorkie is right for us. I'm more of a reader, so I likely won't post all that much - but I value all of the information and stories that yorkietalk provides. Thanks! |

| WELCOME!! I think it's great that you want to research first. You will find so much useful information on this site. There is a post on the General Discussions forum, that tells you what to expect of a new Yorkie puppy. Good luck, and if you get one...we love pictures.

| Welcome to YT!!! Good luck in your search for your baby!!! You'll be so glad you researched and prepared for your yorkie!!!! Many people don't realize how high maintenance these little ones can be....so it's important before a person decides to bring a baby home...that they know just what they are getting into....But it's the most fulfilling and wonderful experience you will ever know...having a furbutt of your very own!!! Good luck!!

| Welcome! I'm new here too! I spent 3 months researching before I finally brought home April. Let me tell you, i definitely got more than i bargained for! I feel so so lucky You know how you see some dogs and you think, he's so sweet... or she's so cute or what a good dog... There's just something about Yorkies or as a matter of fact, April, their personality, the way they just understand and adore you that makes my heart melt and i fall in love with April every time and again. I've been recommending EVERYONE who's looking into the prospect of owning one to get a Yorkie. Here's a few reasons: The first 24 hours she learned not to yap. Whenever she'd whine from her cage, i'd tell her a stern NO! I live in an apartment so i can't be making too much noise! She's never ever barked or whine since (unless i tease her and wont give her attention, she'll whine a bit but never ever barks). I literally brought April home and within a week she was already house trained... All i had to do was scoop the poop She's so darn smart! I taught her how to sit, lay down, and shake within 2 weeks (with a pinch of cheese, she goes boinkers for that) Among other things, my vet tells me my dog is just the best girl, she never ever gave him a hard time during check ups or shots and never yelped! So proud of her! She's a ball of fire, she tells me when she wants to be pet by rubbing her body against mine, when she wants to be picked up she'll stand up, and when she wants to play fetch she'll bring me her Ropie. AND when she wants to go out she'll jsit in my handbag! HAHA which is hilarious because when she was younger, she's very very tiny, when we'd go out, i'd only allow her to stay in my purse because i was afraid she'd get stomped on. LOL You wont regret it! It is the most rewarding decision, by far. |
