| ear plugs + yorkies = no good! i found something interesting in Kash's poop this morning!! an ear plug! my bf wears them at night because he's a light sleeper, and sometimes they are left on the floor where Kash can get them, and he must have swallowed one!! every now and then, i'll catch him with one in his mouth, and take it away, but i definitely didn't catch this one! and this totally explains why he was whimpering last night! he probably had a terrible tummy ache while his tiny body was trying to pass that huge ear plug through his tiny intestines!! at around 4 a.m. he started squirming around and then started crying very quietly. i held him close to my chest, and he fell back asleep, but i was worried because i didn't know why he was crying. well, sure enough, the mystery was solved when he passed the ear plug through his system this morning, and that's probably why he was crying. as soon as he did that, he was back to his happy self! omg, can you imagine that big ear plug through his 3.5 lb little body? i can't imagine how that must have felt. i was so upset at my bf. and i lectured him about leaving things like that on the floor. i guess i'll have to keep an even closer eye on Kash... sheesh!

| Glad it had a happy ending... My daughter is always combing the floors for little objects because her little yorkie boy likes to find things and put them in his mouth too...Luckily, he never swallowed anything, but you never know...They are little stinkers !!!

| i'm so glad nothing more serious happened (like choking, etc). we were lucky that he didn't need to go to the vet or anything. i wonder why dogs like to eat things that aren't food! lol! i mean, what goes on in their minds when they're chewing on something (like an ear plug)... like, "hmmm, this has no taste, but i think i'll swallow it anyway..." cats are definitely lower maintenance because if something doesn't smell tasty to them, they'll ignore it. haha!

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE ELSE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH EAR PLUGS!!! THIS WEBSITE IS AMAZING!! Wow!! Lola does the same thing!! She LOVES my ear plugs!! She sneaks into my room when I'm not there, and climbs from my bed to my bedside table and snatches up my ear plugs! I find them all over the house! I've caught her in the act before and she looks up at me with the guiltiest expression! I was really scared the other day because she was acting if something was caught in her throat. She was trying to gasp for air and was shaking and crying. Every time I would touch her tummy, she would whine. I was thinking that it could possibly be an ear plug! She's only 4 lbs. so I couldn't imagine what it felt like. I wasn't able to ever identify the source, but thanks to your post, I will keep the ear plugs out of her reach from now on!! My boyfriend and I were thinking they probably get the plugs to be smushed up when they ingest them, and then they probably expand in their tummys!! OUCH! Glad your little guy is ok now. I'm definitely gonna be paying closer attention now! Now that I'm reading your post, I'm sure that was what happened to Lola too!! This site is great!! |
