Glad to hear things are better and that if it doesn't work out you have a place for her to go. I love the picture you posted. It was so sweet!!! Hopefully they will learn to love each other and they won't drive you crazy in the mean time.

I know this is probably normal but I've had probably one of the most stressful days of my life and Franklin and Maggie are not getting along and I'm about thiisss close to a nervous breakdown.

For those of you who don't know, we just adopted a 3 and a 1/2 year old female yorkie.

Franklin is only 7 months so all he wants to do is play with her and follow her around. Well she apparently does not like that. She growls and nips at him and is very possessive of her crate, and the couches. Mind you, she's only been here half a day. She is the epitome of queen bitch to Franklin. She's VERY sweet to us and when we went to the dog park, she was really friendly to the other dogs and to other people. It makes me so sad because all I wanted was for him to have a playmate.

I think maybe Franklin is just really annoying so when we got back from the dog park, I took him for a short walk, just to kind of tire him out a little. Well Maggie laid on the couch and fell asleep and all Franklin did was bark at her. He likes her a lot and it just makes me so sad because he's my baby boy.. why wouldn't she like him?

I think she may be overly stressed from the trip and everything but it worries me that she's already so dominant in MY house after only being here for a couple of hours. It looks like she'll need a lot of training.. I'm scared she's going to hurt him.

Lastly -- there is something else that may be affecting her mood. We're not sure though. I think she might be pregnant.. which basically sucks for me. The reason why we believe this is because she doesn't seem to be overweight around the ribs or anything but she has a HUGE belly, and her nipples seem to be swollen. I don't any anything about female dogs though. I called the vet and we couldn't get in today so I'm bringing her in on Monday. Can anybody tell me what the signs would be?

I'm on my last nerve today. I know I'm probably HUGELY overreacting but today has literally been the most stressful day of my life.

Well bless your heart. I know how you feel, my Rickles was a little more than 7 years when I decided that I needed a puppy. That's when Gleason came into our lives. At first it was living you know what but after a while they have become very best friends and if something happens that makes Gleason unsure he runs and gets as close as he can to Rickles. There were lots of prayers and lots of tears in the beginning but it worked out great. The worst part was that Gleason chased the cats. I got a spay bottle and only had to spray him twice and he understood. He is very quick to catch on. Lots of luck to you and your babies.

Poor all of you.
Happy to see your update has some hope for your sanity. Poor little
girl had so many new things being thrown her way I'm sure in a couple
of day's Franklin will know where he stands with his new sister.
She'll let him know, on her terms, when she feels like playing and he
will respect that when he's taught by her. I hope she's not pregnant
so there is not yet another adjustment in her life and you can all
just get moving on being one big happy family.
They are both adorable sleeping, almost, next to each other.

I think I wrote the book on stress. We bought Kayla after Max passed away a year today. We were all grieveing but I had never seen a dog grieve like Mandy. Kayla has helped her so much. It was not like that in the start. Now they are best buds. Tina just could care less if Kayla excists or not. We try to give them all equal attention but even at that Tina will go off and sull when Mandy and Kayla are playing. Sometimes she will play with Kayla but she had just as soon be left alone. Time is the thing. It gets better believe me. There have been moments I wanted to pull my hair out and snatch them bald headed. But, I wouldn't take for the little spoiled brats. It will work out, just hang in there.

I would just give them some time. It sounds like the new dog just needs to adjust and a little training in her new environment. I watched a dog training show once where dogs were bullying the family's newest dog and they got them to stop by giving the bully dogs treats every time the new dog came in the room ,so they'd associate the new dog with good things happening. I don't know if it works personally but it seems reasonable. Though, if you do choose to try it keep the treats small..yorkies can get fat quick lol. Also definitely make sure both dogs know YOU are the boss not them. That helps with everything.

I know paddy will have similar disagreements if and when we ever get another dog. Especially if we got a puppy b/c he's only 2 and already can't seem to tolerate puppy antics. So thats one reason we are thinking of getting an older or same age dog. But basically he will just have to learn to live with whoever we bring in b/c my husband and I are the humans so WE decide who lives in our house. Trust me I'll be letting him know that lol.
