YT Addict | Help with new puppy shopping Hey I was wondering if there was anywhere I could find a list of the things I need to buy before getting my furbutt. I do have a list I gathered myself from different places but want to make sure I don't miss anything. Thanks guys!

| I'm no help, I want to buy everything I see for Gracie. Must...resist...urges...to...buy...everything... lol I think besides the normal stuff, which I'm sure you've thought of, a first aid kit and perhaps a medical book would be the only thing I would suggest. Your local bookstore or petstore should carry some good books and the book should have a list of suggestions of things to keep handy in the home. Oh, and a camera is vital to raising a happy furbutt. Please post pictures as soon as you get your baby.

| Aside from all the basics (food, water, toys, bed, leash) I would STRONGLY reccomend getting a little kennel for the baby to sleep in. When i first got Abbey she slept in the bed with us the first night, and got up in the middle of the night and peed ON my boyfriend. From there, I put her in the bathroom with her bed to sleep and she CRIED ALL NIGHT. It was awful. So I got a kennel for her to sleep and she cried at first but then I would tap the top and say "NO, Sleep!" and she would quiet down and fall asleep. The night we got the kennel was my first night of good sleep with her. I also put a ticking clock in the kennel and that helped comfort her bc it sounded like a her mother's heart beat. They also like the kennel bc it's like a dark den where they feel safe. So, trust me, the first few nights will be a little rough but then kennel helps. It also helps with potty training. Secondly, one of my best investments was getting a puppy KONG for Abbey. They help with teething and keep them busy for long periods of time. If I ever have to leave her alone for a while I put some treats in her Kong and it keeps her entertained with I am gone. It also helps when putting them in a carrier to help them calm down or when you put them in the crate. Abs was chewing the sides of my nice wooden furniture and having the Kong to chew on also helped in getting her to quit that habit. Hope that helped!

| These may not be "fun" stuff but I bought a doggy first aid kit, children's benadryl, plain canned pumpkin and I also visited the vet and the emergency vet center I was going to be using for Lucy and got a magnet for the emergency vet to keep on my refrigerator along with the poison control number... Ack-I sound morbid! Okay, other stuff...I bought a carrier and the small lookout car seat with a padded harness since I knew she would be in the car with me from day one. I knew she would outgrow it but I didn't care. Gheesh-I still feel like "safety Captain Kathy" Fun stuff! I bought little t-shirts, a stroller, little doughnut beds for her to curl up on the couch, did I mention way to many t-shirts? Congratulations on your new puppy!
