| Advice on theeth removal Ava's top two front baby teeth won't come out and her other tooth is now nearly all the way in behind pushing them forward. The vet said to decide if we wanted her spayed or not, and I think we have decided against. He said he would pull them when she was under then. However these are her baby teeth and I'm just curious who else has had this done and how it went? Any Advice?

| How old is your little one? I have two that had double teeth. They both came to me already spayed so we did not have the option of having them removed at time of spaying. Tia is now 2 years old and has been fine, but she will be having them removed at her first dental cleaning. Lilly is 9 months and we could not wait until her first cleaning. We noticed her breath was stinky and then noticed that her baby canine was spit and brown. It was rotting. She just had her two baby canines removed and a baby molar. It really depends on your baby. You could wait it out and see if she can wait intil her first cleaning (Usually done between the age of a year or two years depending on how the teeth look). Also if you are not planning on breeding her you really would be better to have her spayed, especially if you may later on down the road get another. Good Luck. Elaine |

| she will be 6 months in a day or two. We are aware that her daddy had teeth that needed pulled if that makes a differance. We would like to possibly breed her down the road.

This is a very common procedure in yorkies. For some reason, yorkies have difficulties losing these teeth on their own. It absolutely necessary that you have the milk teeth removed, if they don't lose them. Decaying food gets wedged between the two sets of teeth and cause serious problems. Most people do this when their puppies a spayed. I hope you reconsider spaying her. Toy breeds, like yorkies, are very difficult to breed successfully, so many inherited problems. Good luck with your decision.

| She has a good breeding line and from what we have found nothing genetically wrong. The vet has even commented on what a great quality he is. I will not breed her untill I feel she and I are both ready. I have lots of time to dedicate to her and any puppies. I am trying to learn all that I can about the breed, testing, and overall knowledge. Once I feel the vet and I have come to a joint decision about her breeding capabilities I will then decide as to if I should breed her. I am not decided 100 percent either way. I consulted with the vet again, and he said he wants to wait untill next month to decide to pull them, hoping they fall out. I will continue to try to get her to chew on things, wiggle them and such. I brush her teeth often (several times per week) so hopefully that will help keep them nice.

| I would never want to put my dog through something so serious if she isn't going to do well with it. If we would decide not to breed her I would have her spayed immediatly. I just think the more you know and the more you prepare yourself the better the situation will be.
