Need Help And Tips Please!!! Hello everyone... I need help on two things if anyone can help, First, Violeta hates to be groomed. She cant see the brush coming cause war begins... She will bark at it and wont let me brush her. This is happening since day one, now she is almost 7 months and it is still the same... WHAT CAN I DO? I have to brush her hair.. she's been getting tangles because she wont let me touch her with ANY brush. And the other thing is... I'm almost sure that she got her first heat... since she is always cleaning herself up she has this terrible bad breath and she wont let me brush her teeth either... she will fight me trying to get the toothbrush or my fingers inside her mouth... her breath stinks, PLEASE HELP ANYONE... she's my little baby and she is stuck to me all the time I dont want her to struggle everytime I have to do some of this two things. THANKS.

Have you tried to brush her while she is very sleepy? And can you get any brushes in at all? Or does she go crazy before the brush even touches her hair? I had the same problem with my dog. She still hates to be groomed, but I can do it if she is almost passed out tired. I also bought a very soft baby brush so there is almost no way it will hurt her. My breeder gave me a metal comb to use, but I think it pulls on her hair too much and hurts her fragile skin. So maybe a softer brush and a sleepy dog will help. Good Luck!

puppy She may have retained puppy teeth and that can cause terrible breath. Have the vet check her out. You have to assume the role as the one in charge and groom her no matter how much she fights you. The Dog Whisperer had a great segment on this subject...that poodle mix bite him so bad, over and over...I used to muzzle viscious dogs like that..soft muzzle and they settled right down. hey would assume a submissive position and lay on their side for me to brush them. By the third of fourth grooming session they were angels, got a big hug and a treat..loved to come see me.

| I would have her clipped in a puppy cut, then I would start over the process of training her to be groomed. Sounds like she doesn't like getting the tangles pulled out of her hair. With her hair short, you could introduce her to a soft bristle brush. She will soon see that the soft bristle brush doesn't hurt. If you want her hair long again, I would use a very good de-tangler. About the bad breath. Have you tried Greenies. Great smelling breath.

grooming Macy hates to be brushed. I give her a soft plastic brush to chew on and tell her sternly that she has to be brushed. It takes a few mins. but after she sees that I mean buisness she settles down. As soon as I get done though she gets on the rug and rolls and slides around and that's the end of her looking good.
