| Should I take her with me?? Hi Everyone!! So, my boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Asia next year for 2 weeks. I am debating if I should take Chloe with us or not. It will be a looooooong flight. She doesn't do too well with car ride!! We are going to ask vet if there is something I could give her to ease with her travel anxiety. Also, there won't be as much space for her to run around in Asia, air will be more polluted...etc. Also, she might have jetlag? Do you think I should leave her in the state or take her with me? HELP!! I don't know if I can survive without her for 2 weeks though! Also, if you have traveled with you pet internationally (esp to Asia), please share your tips with me! Thanks!!! |

| Hmm...Asia will be risky. I mean, even humans need vaccinations for all types of things down there (hepatitis, tetanus, etc.). And not only will you have to buy bottled water (I never drank tap water when I went last summer), you'll have to buy bottled water for your yorkie too! And remember the food is different. You'll have to bring her food everywhere. Plus, what's going to happen when you can't bring her on an excursion or a restaurant? Are you going to leave her in the hotels? Foreigners are quite sketchy to me. I wouldn't trust myself alone in Asia...but that's just me! =) I guess it's your choice. I've seen tourists bring dogs to foreign countries. Mind you, they were bigger dogs. Good luck, I hope you find a solution!!! Last edited by dani23d; 11-20-2007 at 07:05 PM. |

| I know two wks seems like a long time to be away from her, but I think it would be wisest to leave her home with someone you trust. I just think such a long flight, new place, etc would be alot of stress to put her through, plus there are so many things that could happen. What if she were to get hurt while y'all had her in Asia? would you know where to find a good vet?

Donating YT 11K Club Member | I think leaving her home would be best. I think there's just way too many laws in Asia, etc.

| Hehe well, seeing as you have a boyfriend and not a husband sorta made me assume - although there's nothing wrong with a 40-year-old woman with a boyfriend either! Good thing I guessed correctly! Hehehe. |

| i just bring my babie youji to hong kong 2 days ago. he is doing fine with a loooooooong flight. before you flight, you have to prepare all the documents to import the country. make sure your puppy meet all the requirements, such as all the vaccines and microchip. btw, if you only leave for 2 weeks, maybe you can find someone you trust to take care of her instead of bring her go asia. i worried so much when i was in flight. |

| Just my two cents... It is a really long flight. Hong Kong is great, but, if you have your baby there with you, you will severly limit your sightseeing abilities. Also, that is a LOT of work to get a dog through customs and all the red tape. Then you have to go through it all over again when you come back. On a side note, take a really good camera with a tripod for night shots, as the city is amazing!!!! One of my all time favorite places...but I have to say Sydney is #1!!!!!!

| that's rig, its a realy long flight and lot of documents to prepare for import to hk. for import to us, its much easlier, you only need a rabie certificate. also, if you're going hk for vacation or its yr first time to go there, she will really limit yr sightseeing abilities because lot of place in hk dont allow dogs. since im going hk for family visit, so its fine for me. i dont really care about sightseeing. and the most important thing is if you have to stay in the hotel. i dont think hotel welcome dog to stay. anyways, if you want to know more information about the regulation to import a pet. here is the website: http://www.afcd.gov.hk |
