| Ate the drywall, help!! We need to do some re-training and we could really use some advice! Wrigley is 7 1/2 months old and when we used to go out, we would leave her in a pack-n-play with a pee pee pad, her crate and toys, but she would get really stressed out. She whines, cries, and jumps almost non-stop. Obviously she has separation anxiety! So we thought we would try letting her have the run of the house ( the first floor ) along with our 5 year old Yorkie Poo. That seemed to be working fine for awhile, but we now have had two times where she has scratched, pawed at and I'm sure ate a patch of the drywall off two different walls in the house. So now we think we need to re-train her to stay in the pack-n-play when we go out. Any and all advice and help on the best way to get her used to and not so stressed out where she gets sick would be greatly appreciated! Someone is usually home with her, so she's not left on a daily basis or set schedule. Does anyone else have the problem of them jumping, crying and stressing out when you leave and how did you solve getting them used to that and staying confined? Thank You!! |

| Chachi has separation anxiety issues and will cry when we leave. He also destroys stuff and I think that is part of the anxiety. Usually it is paper but the last time we left him he tore all the foam out of his bed. I have two yorkies to so its not because he is lonely. We have started keeping him in the xpen when we leave so he doesnt destroy anything. We leave the tv or radio on for him. He still crys when we leave

| The strange thing is, she doesn't chew on the wall when we are home, the only thing she cares about destroying if we are around is paper! Tissues, napkins, newspaper, etc... When we first got her we used Green Apple when she would try and chew on wood, but she really doesn't do that anymore. We were leaving the TV on either the cartoon network or animal planet, but I'm wondering if quiet would be better for her. I guess some like the noise and some don't. We thought if she was not confined and could stay close to our other dog, she would be happier, but I guess that's not the case! I guess the main thing we are worried about when leaving her confined in her pack-n-play is her jumping non-stop and making herself sick! I don't think she could jump out of it, but we are getting a mesh top just in case. We are worried about her destroying the house if she's loose or making herself sick if she's confined! You feel like you can't win! |

We thought maybe by putting a top on the pack n play it will feel more confining to her. I guess we will try that first and if not, then we should probably try a crate a little bit bigger than what she sleeps in.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Pixie screamed when I had to put her in the playpen and would carry on for a really long time. I started coming and going for short trips and then my husband covered the top of the playpen and it really seems to help. We do not hear her scream as we are leaving or when we come in. She now waits until I come in and let her out. This has all been within the last 3 weeks. 3 of my other dogs all ate holes on the drywall. They did it when they were 8 months old and had run of the house. They seemed to do it once or twice and never again. Good luck

We have the Graco square pack-n-play and I'm going to get the mesh netting that you can put over playpens. How old is Pixie?
