| It's based on the Pavlov's Dogs theory of training and has worked really well for all kinds of animals including dolphins and whales but especially dogs. It's a form of reward that the dog comes to associate with "good" things like treats and praise. Basically, you operate the clicker whenever the dog does something good and needs rewarding. The clicker has saved my big dogs' lives when they have gotten out of the fence when a gate was left open and have run off on an adventure. I drive around the neighborhood with the clicker going and they come running from wherever they are! |

| Actually, I believe they meant "clicker" as in the one pictured below: http://www.petsmart.com/media/ps/ima...2235_12d33.jpg Not to be confused w/ a radio transmitter, such as this one: http://www.petsmart.com/media/ps/ima...7429_39d81.jpg I just purchased a clicker this past weekend. My yorkie comes running to the noise. Haven't started training him yet, but I enjoy the fact that he runs to the noise anywhere in the house. |

| To be perfectly upfront and honest here, I sell clickers on my website - but, I do so because I really beleive in them for little dog training. Please PM or email me and I'll be happy to walk you through the process I've also posted many times on clicker training so if you use the search feature on this message board under my screen name or under clicker training, you'll find some of these posts. |

| Thanks. Rather than you going through the whole explanation again, I'll check out the search engine on here first and see if it makes sense to me. I have one Yorkie and buying another tomorrow and I was intrigued by the idea of a clicker if it worked as I imagined. |

| I've used a small clicker to train my yorkie to do basic training. Within the first week that she came into my home, I started to do the clicker training and she quickly learned how to sit on command in the first week. By the second week she already learned how to lie down on command. Scuddles learns so quick with the clicker! Although lately, she hasn't been in the mood to do any training. Basically all I did was first condition her with the clicker. I just click and give her a treat right after the click and repeat it a couple times. Then I start to call her name to get her attention then click onced she looked at my face. Then I make her do something like sit a couple times (using a piece of treat to make her smell it) and click right when she sits a couple times and started to incorporate using the commands before the click.

| My brother's dog is clicker trained really well! One click means sit, two clicks means stay, three clicks means come. He is so good with it too. Works great at the dog park.

| So i guess i've been "clicker training" my yorkie correctly My vet actually recommended to do the "choker" training on my yorkie, but i was against it as i can never do that to my scuddles. I've researched that the "clicker training" was one of the best, most effective ways to train a yorkie quickly and painlessly.
