That’s an interesting use of a clicker, and neither wrong nor right – just not what is meant by “clicker training.” Your brother is using a clicker as command, not as a conditioned reinforcer. In clicker training, the clicker is used as a device to mark the exact moment a dog does something “right” – it’s a kin to saying “good dog! That’s right” very quickly and at the moment the thing that is “right” is done. It is not used in replacement of the command “sit,” “stay” or “come.” You would tell your dog to sit, and when he does so, you click and reward him for sitting.
