| Please Please Help! Hi everyone, I am truly going nuts here. Tiki had done soooo well on is pee pads after like 3 days of having him. He's now almost 7 months and doing WORSE than I have ever seen him do! I feel as though he knows where he is supposed to go because everytime he goes on the floor where he isn't supposed to, he cries and runs away from it. I have made the mistale of yelling at him when he goes on the floor and now I think he thinks he's being punished whenever he goes. I just don't know what to do. I've tried to stop yelling at him and just picking him up after he goes and carrying him over to his pads, but I feel like that hasn't helped at all. I am sooo confused I've read one of you say to just ignore it all together when they go in the wrong place, do you think I should try that? Any suggests at all will truly be appreciated! As of right now I think I've reversed all of the training I taught him in the first place and like I said, I think whenever he pees any where, he thinks its wrong. And this makes me nervous because now he has been doing this thing where he will hold his pee all day and then almost like explode on the floor anywhere because he can't hold it anymore. And then cries and runs away. Did I ruin my poor babys bladder control? Please help! |

| First I want to tell you that you came to the right place for info. I also want to say that I think it's very wrong (and please don't take this the wrong way) for anyone to think that their Yorkie will be fully potty trained at 7 months. I am not trying to be mean but yorkies are like babies, and we all know it takes more than 7 months for human babies to get potty trained. I would suggest taking it back to the beginning, reward him when he does go and tell him no (no yelling just a stern no) when he goes on the floor. Make a big deal out of him going on the pads. It will take awhile for him to get back on track, but you just have to be patient. Georgie is just now pretty well trained and he is 11 months, but when he does have accidents I think about it like if this is the worst thing that happens life with Georgie is pretty good Good luck and keep us posted.

| My vet actually warned me about this problem. I was so proud that zoe was potty trained the next day I brought him home that I gloated to my vet. His response was "good but it won't last forever". Yorkies have a tendency to sidetrack after a few months. I have not experienced it yet but I think that its a good time for you to start training him to go outdoors. Start from step one. Good luck and keep me updated.

| I was very lucky Liberty was in a outside kennel and only knew to go outside to go potty. We got her when she was 3 months and she has been doing great, she is 4 1/2 months now. she may have an accident once a week but mostly poop on the floor. we take her outside every hour to hour and a half she goes out at about 11pm for the night and doesn't go back out until 430am-5am. After she is done doing her business outside she will scratch at the door and bark to let us know she is ready to come inside the only advise I can give you is be consistent and he'll catch on. you may have better luck at trainning him to go outside. my vet told me that if i wanted her to go outside than donot use the pee pads. good luck |

| I'd really prefer to keep up with the pads. My fiance and I have very unpredictable schedules for work and can't really rely on all ways keeping him to a schedule for going outside. I'm just so frustrated because you think they know where to go and then they go anywhere. So when he does go on the floor, I should go back to just picking him up and bringing him to his pads? I feel like I have been doing that and it hasn't helped. I'll bring him to his pad and say go pee pee, but I think he thinks he's being punished on it because I just told him no when he peed on the floor. Or should I ignore him when he pees on the floor like nothing happened and just clean it up? Because I allways praise him like crazy when he goes on the pad and by maybe ignoring it on the floor will draw him to the pad for the praising? |

| They say only to say no in a stern voice when you catch him in the act and place him on the wee wee pad. If he has peed and you didn't see him just wipe it up and don't say anything.Continue praising when he goes on pads. You need to have lots of patience, Gucci will be two in June, she is trained to go outside and indoors. She still has accidents with number two indoors, and she knows when she did wrong for she runs and hides from me. Its two cute, and if I didnt catch her I clean it up and coax her to come out from hiding...lol Gina |
