What kind of pen will she not climb over?? I need your help in finding a pen that my sweet Yorkie will not climb out of! She is part monkey, I believe... I'd like to put her out on our new screened-in back porch while I am gone during the day, but hesitate to do so because she climbs out of everything we have put her in. We even put dog wire around the deck rails, and she's learned how to climb over the door that we wired up. We have to put a cover over it to keep her from climbing out. I hate the idea of caging her, but I can't let her roam free during the day; she scratches and gnaws at the door facings. I also hate the idea of a crate.

I had the same problem. You need one with vertical bars. I stumbled upon a lifesaver...it's actually a ferret playpen by Marshall. I got the 8 panel and its big enough for crate, pee pad, bowls, and a few toys. They also have an 11 panel. You can arrange it in any shape you need or use it like a baby gate to block off an area. Works wonderful. My pup even got on top of the crate and still couldn't climb out. Ferret.com has them pretty cheap, but I ordered from Amazon before realizing that.

I also have an Iris Xpen, which is perfect! Two side zip flaps, loads of room for food, bed and pee pad...mesh zippered top which she will NOT be able to get out of Trust me I know because Sunni is part magician. This is perfect for her. Its very well made, light and durable. (I sound like a salesman for the company, haha..I'm not!)

| I disagree with the two posters above. IMO, the Iris is a horribly designed pen, that is made for even a moderate climber to escape. The horizontal bars make it like a ladder, so an active pup can easily scramble up it. The velcro mesh cover is worthless, and does nothing to hamper an escape artist. A tall pen with vertical bars is the only thing to thwart a climber.

Maybe the brand I have isnt Iris.....its all Nylon like a pup tent is made out of, with very strong mesh sides and top...not the same thing. It contains my Sunni, 100%. I was at work when I said the brand name...the one I have is actually made by Zampa
