| yorkie drinks way too much water I have a rescue yorkie that I got a year ago. She is ten years old and waskept in a kennel except to eat and go potty. so she has some really weird behavier. Not aggressive just different. I have noticed that the last few weeks she drinks sooooooooooo much water. She also will peein the house if I leave for a while which you can imagine the lake I have to clean up when I get home. I dont have the heart to kennel her because of her past. She is a sweet heart . My question is would it be alright if I took the water up where she cant get to it and just gave it to her several times a day. I work from home so I can see when she needs the water. She also pants and has anxiety if she dosent get water. Literally cries. please help if you can thanks lisa max and mollys mom |

| Welcome to YT! Have you taken her to the vet to get her checked? Typically drinking excessive water is a sign of an underlying issue. Our Boxer started drinking a lot of water and was diagnosed with Cushings disease. I don't want to scare you it's treatable but the drinking excess water is a symptom of it.

| Bless her heart shes had a hard life and I saved her from being put to sleep thinking i could give her a few good years outside of that kennel and in a home where she was played with and loved. I just dont know what aim goig to do if its a serious matter. |

| Oh good I am glad you have an appointment at the vet. Sweet girl I am glad she is at least somewhere that allows her to be comfortable and loved. I know our Boxer also started eating a lot more is she doing that as well?

Honestly, I would not wait a few weeks to have her checked, if you took her to the vet, a simple blood and or urine test can help determine her levels. I had a diabetic dog and he started with the excessive thirst. Please dont wait to take her to the vet, if she is diabetic, it is easy to treat but can be deadly if not treated. It could be a simple uti also, so please have her checked.
