| Pee's all the time! PLEASE HELP! I've always been told smaller dogs cant control theirself like a larger dog can. My puppy is about 5 months old, i'm training her to use pee pee pads outside on my porch and she's doing very well. She will sit at the back door to let me know she has to go! Here's the problem - whenever i get home from work, lean down to pick her up, or if she get's excited or in trouble, she pee's! (usually on my carpet!) She will even pee if she just got done going!! Is there anything that can stop her from this or does she just grow out of it?

| You may want your vet to check for any infection first. It sounds like she may have an excitable and/or submissive peeing condition. Sometimes they grow out of it, sometimes not. Try to minimize communications with her until after she has gone outside. Don't make over her or cause her to become real excited when you get home... just go in and go right to her and get her outside. Ignore anything she may have done wrong while you were out, minimize greatly any greeting you use with her, just get her outside as quickly and as quietly as possible and allow her to go potty and give her tons of praise. I believe the rule is 1 hour of holding time for each month of age, so she should be able to hold her urine for around 5 hours, to expect any longer of her would be unfair.

| Welcome to YT! I saw on another post that your little one is in the crate for 8+ hours a day, plus at night. I would have to say part of the problem is the long stretch during the day in the crate - these babies have teeny bladders. Is it possible for you to come home at lunch or have a friend/family member let her out to relieve herself? If not, what about an x-pen set up with toys, food and pee pads during the day and crate only at night? I know it's difficult to work and juggle a pup, but it can be done...I'm doing it now. I'm already seeing my upfront work pay off for mine, who's 10 months old. Good luck to you!
