| Carpet Cleaning Tips I read a few posts on the peroxide, baking soda, and dish detergent combo to clean urine odors. My concern is that the full strength peroxide will discolor my rugs. Does anyone know the exact "RECIPE" for this carpet cleaning combo and do you dilute it with water. I have a Rug Doctor carpet cleaner - you fill a 1 or 2 gallon container with water and rug cleaning solution. How can I adapt this recipe to my carpet cleaner? OR Do any of you have other suggestions on how to apply it. This REMAINING odor seems to be the problem with my little guy - he keeps going back to the same 2 spots - I really need to get the odor out!!! Help. Thanks, Elle |

The enzimatic stuff? it works for me... I know an owner of a carpet cleaning business and they use WHITE VINEGAR to clean the expensive rugs. They say it is safe and gets rid of cats, and dogs and pets stains and smells. I have used it and i like it too. I treat with the vinegar. Than rinse and if i need i will shampoo the rugs. I have that Bissel little spot cleaner machine. Hope it is a help ! XOXO

| I would recommend steam cleaning your carpet. You can buy your own or rent one. We have a Hoover SteamVac that we use along with the Pet Odor removing stuff that you put in it. Works great! If you don't want to buy one yourself, you can rent a heavy duty one at many grocery stores and some places likes Fred's or WalMart. |

♥ Catherine My Love ♥ Donating Member | I use Spray N Wash with Resolve Power. It's a laundry stain remover, but it gets stains of all kinds and smells out of the carpet and furniture (I have little kids, so I get all kinds of stuff all over my house).

| Carpet Cleaning I have that heavy duty one. After my hoover broke, I bought a Heavy Duty Rug Doctor at Sam's Club. This little guy is breaking me. He keeps going back to the same 2 places and pees. Yesterday I dumped 1/2 solution of white vinegar and water and added baking soda - I immediately dumped it over the soiled areas. Then I cleaned it with my steam cleaner using carpet cleaner and odor remover additive. I think I got good results, it is still a little damp, but I can smell any urine. Why does he keep going back there??? I am safe as long as I take him out every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. While I am at work he is confined to the laundry room with a grass potty mat. He will usually hold his pee until I get home about 8 hours later - but sometimes he uses his mat (which is ok - that's why it is there). I have put a gate at the bottom of the stairs (he pees on the landing) so he has no access to one of the favorate pee spots and I put his water bowel and feed him at the other spot. Do you think he goes back because he still smells pee or is this just a bad habit that needs to be broken (by taking him out every 1 1/2 hours). If I keep cleaning this carpet as much as I am, it is going to fall apart. Any suggestions would really be appreciated. Thanks, Elle |

| All carpet suppliers suggest steam cleaning because it's the most comprehensive method of getting the job carried out. Enhanced carpet cleaning methods generally need some specialized products and equipments. |

YT 500 Club Member | I would not use the peroxide baking soda a dawn. I use this on a small spot on my carpet and guess I didn't get it rinsed good enough and Dolly licked the spot and the peroxide made her sick |
