Thank you for a great training guide. I just got my puppy for 3 days and im having a hard time right now training him. Just wondering, since Yorkie's bladder is small, how long will it take for them to fully potty trained without pee/poop within the crate?

dog aggression I have a 16 week old yorkie who wants to be the boss. She will come to you and kiss you then two sedconds later will bite your finger. if i try yelling at her she will snarl and bark and show her teeth. I would love to find out what I can do before this becomes a real problem

Has anyone read Dr. Yin's book: Perfect Puppy in 7 Days? Obviously I don't think a puppy can be perfect in 7 days but the book expounds on this guide and is over 150 pages long with tons of pictures/illustrations and has gotten good reviews. I am not sure about parts of it and that is why I am asking. In one section she basically says that giving a dog food in its bowl is lazy and for pet owners that don't want to put the effort into training their dogs and spending time with them but her other techniques and instructions are getting lots of praise. Also I'm training my Lola on pads as it has been recommended that she not go outside to potty until her second set of vaccines (I really don't want to debate my decision to vaccinate, please ) and I don't think there is much pertaining to this. Any info out there? TIA!

Hi there, clicker training is using positive praise and a treat. It's a wonderful metheod. The trick to it is clicking immediately when the dog does as its told and treating the dog right after the click...Lets face it--our beloved breed is extremely intelligent---we just have to catch up. they're like raising toddlers---teach them right from wrong---have limits----and they won't be spoiled--they will be happy, trained ,well adjusted dogs that everyone will enjoy.

Shots for our pups are necessary. but our tiny breed cannot often tolerate more than 1 shot per visit. Most vets agree & will let you make appts. with their vet tecks and not charge you an office visit. I agree pups should not be out & about till they have all their puppy shots.Even when people used to come to see my pups...I made them take off their shoes at the door and wash their hands. My new yorkie is 8 yrs old. got him his rabies 1st & get another shot every 2 wks.

You already have a problem.Don't yell at her ...will make her worse....look up Victoria Stillwell. She is a wonderful dog trainer and behaviorist.Very down to earth, never any yelling, hitting, etc. She used to be on Animal Planet---she is the best one to help you.I do know not to leave the dog on your lap or even on a couch next to you when she displays this bad behavior. put her down immediately=you don't have to say a word.Look up Victoria--I know she'll have the answers you need. Good Luck.
