Yorkie Talker | Two Crates or One? Hello Everyone, I currently have a 10 week old Yorkie. We got him at 8 weeks. He now sleeps through the night in his 1st carate which is upstairs in our bedroom with no accidents. During the day when he is in his 2nd crate which is kept downstairs which we put him in when we have to go out and he will sometimes pee inside. (we do keep the crate downstairs with just enough room for him stand up and turn around as suggested & we also leave the radio on for him.) Does anyone use 2 crates for one puppy? Im not sure if I am confusing him or will he eventually catch on that he is not soupose to pee in any of the crates. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appericated. Thanks |

| I use multiple crate with my dogs when they were puppies. I don't think it would confuse the puppy. I think the reason why he is peeing in the second crate is because at night, you usually don't feed or water the puppy before going to bed. So his need to go pee pee is not too great(plus if he does need to go out, you are there and would take him out if he makes noises) However, during the day you do feed and water him so his need to go pee pee is higher than at night. Plus you guys are probably not there to take him out when he feels a need to go during the day, so the only thing he can do is pee in his crate. Keep in mind his bladder is very small. Also at this age, he really do not have a lot of bladder control anyway. If he need to go, he goes. |

| I have right now in use three crates. One big big one for staying in while I am away. One medium that we use around the house or at work. One that she loves for car travels and she will put her self in if needs to. JL

Yorkie Talker | Thank you for responses, they make allot of sense. Do you think its still ok to leave him in the 2nd crate when we go out during the day? I really do not want him to pee in there but at the same time i do not want to confuse him with his crate training. Will he eventually learn to hold his pee as he gets older? |

| You really don't want him to learn it is okay to pee in his crate but I would still leave him in the crate when you go out. I would make sure I take him outside and try to make him pee before you crate him. Also limit the amount of water he get(if he get any) in the crate. He should also be able to hold it longer when he is older. |
