Donating YT 10K Club Member | How old is puppy? Many times if you shave 2/3 down on the ears...front and back and keep the edges trimmed...they'll come up on their own.

| Good morning Deb. My puppies are 6 weeks old this Thursday. I just sold my first one over the weekend and the new owner expressed interest in having the ears up. I have two adult yorkies (Mom and Dad to the pups) who both have ears that are down and we like it that way. Never cut their ear hair so inevitably the ears flopped down. Thanks for any help. |

| I didn't quite liked the taping method, I just cut the hair on the edges of his ears (not even shaved) and that helped him not have so much weight on them. Of course, it takes time, by the time he was 4 months, his ears well fully up! (big bunny ears ) |

| George hasn't had his ears trimmed yet, hubby reckons leave them as the frosts here are harsh and he might get frost bite, but will he be able to hear properly if left long and his ears fold down, they look like moth wings on his head at moment as they're so fluffy and they flutter around

| Yes I know what you mean about the hearing, especially when the cat comes in- he appears from a deep sleep upstairs, thought maybe it was sixth sense, so intune with whats going on and his tail, he still had it when I got him at 12 weeks and vet refused to remove it at that age, vet said they are usually removed in first few days of being born, anyway it's a cute tail and groomer trims his behind nicely so no mess and he is not going to be a show dog just my little love.

| When I got Benji @ 3 months old, the breeder had his ears taped. I told her to remove the tape before I picked him up; I heard that ear taping wasn't the best method because it can decrease or alter blood circulation in the ear. I decided that I was not going to tape or shave Benji's ears. During the next month or so, his ears went from both floppy, to one up one down, to the other up the other down, to half floppy half up, etc...Until finally his ears standed at 4 months old. Benji has 'big' ears with a lot of hair on them and they still stood up. I would say just to leave them be and if they are meant to stand, they will. Floppy eared Yorkies are cute either way! |

| Ear taping My max was 3 months old and one of his ears flopped down. I took a piece of tape stuck it my shirt a few times to decrease it's adhesive. Then tapped my Max's ear ever so gentle not cut any circulation. Removed tape 24hrs latter ear stood right up. I had to repeat 4 weeks latter. Again for 24hrs and ears are perfectly standing straight and max did not mind the tape at all after 2 mind of bieng on. If you do it right it is no bother to the dog. |

| Ears Hi everone! This is my first post so I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly so bear with me. I am the mother of 2 Yorkies. Ozzy, who is 3 and Gucci, who is 11 weeks. Ozzy's ears were up at 7 weeks but Gucci's never did go up on their own. I read all kinds of suggestions and came up with one of my own and it worked PERFECTLY!! I took a flexible fabric "knuckle" band-aid and put one on each ear. I had the hair trimmed off the ear on Thursday then applied the band-aid later that evening. I took them off Saturday night to check for any redness or irritation and to my suprised they were up and still are!! I tried to attach pictures but not sure if it worked. If you would like, I could email them straight to you. |
