| Sudden Aggression in Foster Yorkie Mix Sudden Aggression in Foster Yorkie Mix I rescued a Yorkie Mix from a shelter here in Northern California. It was just in time. It turns out that she had huge bladder stones and was about to burst. After two surgeries, the stones have been successfully removed. Yesterday, we removed the last of the stitches and staples. I was so happy. However, she is now totally aggressive toward other dogs, including her roommate. She is 10 years old and had been picked up off the street. She has cataracts. But, she had been very sweet (while in pain?) and had met these neighborhood dogs before. Now, when I take her for walks, she runs up to the dogs and starts attacking, biting. I'm still kind of in shock and don't know what to make of it. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. |

| The only thing I can think of is perhaps she still feels sore from her surgery and does not have the patience or will to be sociable at this time. If she were friendly before I would think something has happened between then and now and maybe it's the surgery. She has been threw quite abit recently and maybe still needs some more time to feel better. It's takes us 4-6wks after having stones removed to feel like ourselves again, I would give her more time. Good luck, |

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | Oh, I'm hoping she will be back to herself really soon. Maybe, while @the Vet for her surgery, the sounds from other dogs in the kennel barking, etc possibly upset her?? Also, what was stated about her just not feeling well too. Enjoy your special time with her this weekend!!

| It could also be that eye sight is getting worse and she is scared. Do you know if she knows any basic commands if so maybe you can practice the stay sit with a treat when you see another dog approach this way she will associate the smell of other dogs with good things. |

It is my understanding that if a dog won't take a treat that is fear based. It took me a long time to find a few treats that Milo will do anything for. Cheese Natural Balance Food Roll Paul Newmans Treats Sweet Potato and Turkey I only use the Cheese for special occasions I cant even say the word outloud he goes bonkers | |

Thor's Human Donating Member | This is a total guess, but is it possible that these dogs are sniffing a painful area on her? I've been told that dogs can become unusually aggressive or timid after a stressful event. Hopefully it will subside soon. Please keep us posted!

| Two things can be going on .... The first is continued pain or discomfort ask your vet if the dog possibly could still be in any pain Dogs will sometimes even bite their owners if they are in pain The other thing is a change in living conditions and surroundings You dog might be confused with all of these sudden changes in it's life Even though you have saved it ... all of these changes might be making her apprehensive and therefore aggressive

| Thank you so much for all the advice. We had a wonderful weekend and she is very happy at home. It's so wonderful to see her "dancing". She hops and rolls and wags her tail. She is feeling much better. We did revisit our neighbor's dog and spent time with them, until our Yorkie finally gave her neighbor a kiss on the nose. This Friday, we will be going to the groomer's and then she will be ready for adoption. Please let me know if you know of anyone in Northern California who would be willing to give a sweet Senior Yorkiepoo a permanent home. Karen |
