| Poor Bud. My yorkie Buddy can be a rotten little stinker. What is the best way to teach your dog to listen to you? If there even is a way. He's 2yrs old in May and maybe he's got set in his ways already but when I tell him NO I expect him to listen to me and stop. Plus when we go on walks he DRAGS me down the street and I've seen on TV where they teach the dogs to obey and walk beside you. Buddy is a great dane trapped in a yorkie's body. I just want him to be a good dog who everyone likes. Any ideas? |

| You need to establish yourself as the alpha leader. Does he know any basic commands, such as sit, stay, come, down? Those are good things for a dog to know so he knows what you want him to do. Him walking in front of you on the leash makes him think HE is in control. And it shouldn't be that way, he should walk nicely behind you/beside you, NOT in front of you. The minute he pulls, just stop walking. Stay in place until he is no longer pulling. He will then understand that in order to move forward, he must not pull. It will take a lot of time and patience but you can do it! Here's a good link. The Walk - The proper way to walk your dog - Dog Walking Find a yummy treat that he absolutely loves. When he does what you want him to do, give it to him. I would type more but i'm tired and going to bed! lol
