| Help PLEASE :| Hey everyone, I was just wondering if you could help me out or give me suggestions on two things. (1) I've decided to litter box train Nicco. Everything has been going well until recently. During the day, he'll run to the box to do his business but if he's walking around or playing later at night (usually around 10pm-12am) he'll walk past the litter box, onto the carpet, and pee around the same area...EVERY NIGHT! I don't get it. If he knows he needs to go, i don't understand why he PASSES his litter box to walk all the way to the carpet and pee. I've cleaned the area very thoroughly too! I even bought a spray thats supposed to make him not want to pee in that area anymore but nothing seems to be working. Tonight, i saw him walk to his litter box, make a few circles (as he usually does before he's about to...do his business lol) and then he went out of the box. When i went to look, i noticed he hadn't done anything. So i went back to watching tv when after about 5 minutes i noticed it was really quiet. I called for him and he didn't come so i went to look for him. I found him in the basement walking around and as i went to pick him up, i saw that he went poo on the blanket downstairs!!!!!! UGH. (2) When he pees in the litter box, he does this weird thing where he'll put his two front feet in the box and his two back feet are out of the box. He'll go like that..it's like he THINKS he's doing the right thing and peeing in the box but really, it ends up outside. I don't know why he doesn't just fully go in the box?? I was told to get a bigger box, which i did, but he still does the same thing... Help please?? |

| Oh sorry, i just had one more question. Nicco has been eating his poo. I've read a few threads on here but nothing i tried seems to be working. I bought a product called Forbid, which from what i read has been recommended by a few users on here and my vet as well. It doesn't seem to be working... Actually, he doesn't even eat his food if the powder is mixed in it. What i do to make him eat is i'll mix a bit of powder in his food and pour some warm water over it. It kind of tricks him into eating but either way, it isn't working!!!! I've yet to try pineapple but any help would be appreciated. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | These are just my suggestions gained from reading this site and books for the last several months. (1) Since he has this little routine he does before he pees or poos, why not manually lift him into his litter box when you see that routine beginning? (2) Since he is not so accurate with the litter box right now, why not put the litter box on top of either a disposable or washable pee pad? (3) From what I've read, feeding the pineapple does work. Supposedly it helps the dog's digestive system bread down enzymes that may not be totally breaking down. You can probably find that thread by doing a search. It was quite interesting. Also, every time he does what you want, reward with a little treat if you are not already doing that...Yorkies love to please their humans. |

| My Yorkie, Pao went through that phase as well. I then put a small coke bottle filled with plain water in the middle of the pee pad and he aims on it when he pee. It really helps to put his pee in perspective lol but when he is in a hurry (to play or etc) he sometimes just do a clumsy pee but more often than not, he aims at the bottle heheeh. Also, I find that mine doesn't like to pee and poo at the same place. If he already pee in his pad upstairs, he'll run downstairs to poo on the pad on the main floor. Not sure why but they are silly like that lol.
