eating cat poo I have read that cats don't digest very much of what they eat, so their poo is still full of protein and is appealing to dogs. The first thing you can do is put the cat's litter box where the puppy can't get to it. Then you can teach the puppy to "leave it" which is very useful in keeping the puppy from picking up and/or eating anything that he shouldn't have. You can teach "leave it" by putting something the puppy wants down in front of him (a couple of feet away) and telling him to leave it and preventing him from getting to it by holding or standing on his leash. Then tell him "OK" or some release word and let him have it. It will take a while, but he will catch on and this command is very useful. Good luck!

It is poo and it tastes good and you fuss over him doing ot so it a great reinforcer to do it again cause boy look at mom give me attention. Block access to the cat box with a baby gate. The cats can jump over it if in good health and then you need not worry. Jl

Lol wow, you too?? My puppy Kacey had done it when we got our kitty Scotch. The first thing I did that worked was to have a piece of cat poop on the floor and let the dog go to it, do not encourage this but let him do it on his own, whenever he touches it sream "NO!" to startle him he should let it go or if he doesn't have it in his mouth back off. Repeat this over until he won't go to it at all. The next step is to catch him in the act. The first step tells him that cat poop is bad and the second tells him that eating it is bad. When you catch him scream and scold him.
