| Is there any help? I have had the most awful time housebreaking my Bella baby. She is two years old and this has been an on-going battle. Is it too late? I know this is all my fault, but I'm watching as she pees away my carpet and poops in any secret area she can find. We started out on pee pads and that was ok, but I was taking her out too and read that that may confuse her. Then we moved into our new house and I did away with the pads and kept her in her crate. Well, that worked ok, but she still had accidents and I worked long days so I felt bad crating her so long. So now I've just allowed her to be out during the days. I never catch her in the act, she's a sneaky lil mama, but I do take her out often. It's like she only goes a little then saves the rest for when she comes in. I pretty much know her schedule, but she still has a way of sneaking. I read that they sometimes take up to two years to train, but we've reached that point and my baby is still naughty! Any advice is helpful! Yorkie Baby Lover, Mary |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | welcome to YT! If i were you i'd definitely crate her when your not home so you don't come home to accidents. If you feel bad about putting her in a small crate then try and ex-pen. Mine is set up in a 2x6 rectangle. Morgan goes in there when i'm at work and when i cannot watch her. Will your little girl go potty in her crate? if not then the ex-pen will definitely help. put her in there at night and first thing in the morning take her out to potty. if she goes, great, if not, put her back in the pen. give her her breakfast and then take her out before you go to work. hopefully she'll go then, if not she'll have to hold in while she's in her pen until you come home. Right when you come home take her out. Now that you have more time you can put a leash on her, take her out and tell her to go potty. Then stand out there with her until she goes no matter how long it takes. If she pees for 2 seconds and you know she has more to do then continue to stand out there until you know all her business is done. once she is finished you can take her back in and she gets free rein and play time. if she doesn't go and holds out some more then take her back in and put her back in the pen. restrict her to the pen until she learns that pottying outside means play time out of the pen. hopefully you'll only have to do this for a short time. Do not feel bad. Eventually it will be better for everyone when she's housebroken.

| Thank you! I will look into the pen, do you think it's ok to put in a kitchen? I have tile in there and the rest are hardwoods/carpet that I hate for her to continue to ruin. Also, she sleeps with me, and normally doesn't get up until I do. Do you recommend keeping her in there still? Normally she will go for me when I take her out, so its hard to tell if she is really "done" but I'll give it a try. I appreciate you taking the time to respond! Mary |
