| Arkansas Breeder- Granny Puppies I posted my story on the general board, and it was suggested I put it here. I got my first Yorkie puppy a last week. My fiance bought him as a surprise for me. He had been searching around online while on a business trip, and found "Granny Puppies" on a list of akc breeders. Maltepoo, Puggle Designer Dog Breeder, Sales| Granny Puppies He ordered him on Monday, and on Tuesday took me to the airport and surprised me with him. I was thrilled to say the least. I've wanted a Yorkie forever, and now I had an adorable sweet little guy. We noticed as soon as we got home that he was kind of lathargic and refused to eat, but we credited that to the stress of flying. We made an appointment to go to the vet the next day. We took him to the vet, and he said that the puppy had kennel cough, an ear infection, an eye infection and a stomach virus. He pumped the little guy full of antibiotics, and sends me home with medicine to give him twice a day, as well as some food he thinks the puppy will eat. That night, after force feeding him, he throws up, so we take him back to the vet. The vet checks him into the boarding hospital and puts him on an IV. Paxton is there for two days. When we take him home, the vet says he's fine, but he's still not eating. I spent the weekend forcefeeding him, and when I'm not force feeding him, he's dead asleep. He doesn't act like a puppy at all. He has no interest in toys, or exploring, or doing anything except curling up and sleeping. I decide I've had enough, so I make an appointment for bright and early Monday. The vet decides that it's not a stomach virus, but has no clue what it is, so he xrays him. He says further tests are needed to determine what's wrong with him. My fiance decides to take him to another vet that day. The second vet takes a blood test and discovers that his white blood cell count is way too high. They investigate further, and find out he has a parasite. His treatment is $1400. As of right now, he is still at the vet. He's been improving luckily. They told us if we hadn't brought him in that night, he probably would have died. The breeder- "Granny Puppies" had been continuely informed of what had been happening with the puppy. She said to send it back and she'll send a new one. That was her only answer through all of this. She even claimed it wasn't her fault the puppy was unhealthy, or that his condition got so bad. She took absolutely no responsiblity for selling us an unhealthy puppy. The puppy came to us sick, yet she doesn't feel that she owes us reinbursment for all the heartache and vets bills ($2,000...so far). Even her warrenty is worded so that she has no responsibly for the puppy, leading to me to believe this has happened before. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS WOMAN. Paxton hasn't been around any dogs since he got here, so he had to have gotten the parasite from her kennel, so all her puppies probably have it. Plus he was sick from the minute he arrived. I really wish my fiance had just paid more, and gotten a puppy locally, from a place we could visit before we bought. But at least we managed to save a puppy from dying at the hands of this woman, even if she did profit from it. |

| Wow, her web site is terrible....I'm so sorry your joy of getting a pup has turned into such a nightmare for you. I hope you can get him well. Unfortunately you probably already know that this was the last place to get a pup from. Being a member of YTCA or having pups registered AKC means nothing. These breeders need to be checked out just like all the rest. Her contract is a joke. She has everything listed that could possibly go wrong health wise with a pup that she will not be responsible for......I guess this tells it all, if your pups arrives sick don't call me....seems to be what she's saying......Anyone that breeds "designer" breeds is someone to stay clear from...... I hope your little one gets well ....good luck and keep us posted.....

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome!! I am so sorry your puppy is so sick. I went through that with my Cali. Spent a fortune the first 8 months and breeder didn't offer anything. But at least your baby has a chance for a great life with you, He probably wouldn't have survived at the breeders. Hope he comes home soon and feels better. Please keep us posted.

| What a sad story and a hard lesson to learn about buying a puppy on the internet. I don't think "Granny" is even the breeder. With so many breeds and crosses, I'm pretty sure she is just a broker for the puppy mills. Arkansas does have "puppy lemon laws", but they only apply to puppies purchased from pet stores. |

| What a horrible person! She knows exactly what she is selling. I have never seen a breeder sell so cheap. I do believe their are laws about the amount of money the animal must cost for you to sue in certain categories, and that may be why they are so cheap. And that is probably why she includes the shipping price because she figures no on will go after her if she is in another state. What a mean person to take advantage of a person trying to do something nice for his fiance.

| Oh no! This is horrible, I cant beleive that she isnt going to take responsibility for what she sold to you, that just isnt right! I hope that your little one gets better, I can tell that he already has a loving home and deserves to stay there for as long as possible.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Bless his heart - I hope he recovers and am so sorry you guys were duped. There's a TON of websites just like that one out there - a good website does NOT mean a good breeder.....actually they could just be puppy brokers with that many different breeds of dogs - the yorkie they had on their site hardly looked like any yorkie baby I've seen..... I hope he's going to be ok ....that's really sad to read |

| howdy all. i'm the unfortunate buyer of this puppy. i need to correct a couple of things my fiance has posted. that other vet (all pets in Chantilly, VA if anybody lives around the area) was the vet that had the pup for 5 days (2 over night) and could not tell me what was wrong with it. The rate they were going, they were completely off base, as the other vet i went to had him diagnosed in 30 minutes. all pets actually offered my fiance a credit card application to keep the pup there to pay for the tests and future tests. the granny puppies place did NOT offer me another puppy. she told me it was not her fault but i could send him back and get just the money from the pup, minus the shipping cost. that would have been the end of it. the vet told me if i had put that puppy on the plane, he would not have made it there alive, so i just put the money up to get him well again. i spoke with the vet and the pup had coccidiosis, anemia, dehydration & kennel cough. he's doing much better now. he is on a bunch of medication at the moment, so he is still not very active. he's a lot more vocal now, before he wouldn't even make a sound. now he yaps when we put him in his kennel for the night or while i go take a shower or something. he quiets down when he realizes i'm not letting him out though. he'll follow my fiance or i around like a lost puppy if we're doing things around the house. he's still a bit clumsy and falls down a lot. he still sleeps a lot and prefers to sleep next to you and not in the kennel. i'm guessing because of all of the meds he's on. he's eating now and lets you know when he's hungry. he's going back for a check up this coming week to see how he is doing. needless to say... i've learned my lesson when buying a pup. i should have actually read the so-called "warranty" more closely. she could have sent me a puppy that has not eaten in weeks and died of starvation en route and not have been responsible for it. what a joke. since i last spoke with her, she has not answered my calls or returned my calls. at least i saved a yorkie who wasn't even going to have a chance at life had i not gotten him. |

| I've just looked at her website & have to say that her so called warranty is an absolute disgrace. If she was an accredited breeder with the Kennel Club here, they would be taking legal action against her, not just striking her off the scheme. People have been prosecuted for far less. I don't know how you stand regarding the American Kennel Club. I hope your little puppy is soon on the mend. At least he has found a kind, caring home with you & your fiancee & a competent vet with the second one you consulted. |

| At least you're not alone. We'll be here to give you the emotional support you need and to answer the questions we can. Somehow I missed this little guy's name. What is it? And where are those pictures!!

| Thank goodness you got him when you did! I am happy to hear that he is doing better and eating. The cocci I am sure is what caused the anemia and dehydration. Kennel cough usually takes FOREVER to get rid of. Keep a very close eye on him. Also, keep him very warm...you want him to use his strength to get better and not any to keep warm. If it was me I would give him nutrical or nutristat to keep his sugars up too....nutri drops are great too. Cocci really drains a pup. Good luck with your baby and I hope he is running around like a pup should very soon!
