| Maggie had her puppies. Maggie gave birth to 5 puppies on Valentines Day. She had 3 boys and 2 girls. They were taken to vet yesterday as well as Maggie to make sure they are all well and so pups could get dew claws removed and their tails docked. The vet said Maggie is fine and gave her a shot with oxytocin and antibiotics just to be on safe side and bring milk down better.she had bit of rash on back thats why he gave antibiotics and since she came home yesterday she is barely eating. I am worried and when i talked to vet he didnt seem concerned. I have got her puppy food and was even feeding her boiled chicken and rice first 4 days as she wasnt interested in dry foodhttp://kona.kontera.com/javascript/l...rey_loader.gif at all. I just came from store with all kinds of treats to entice her. But she doesnt want them. Could she be feeling yucky from the shot or am I over-reacting? Its her first litter and her last! I can't go through this again. I have not been sleeping well from worry. Any suggestions would be welcome. regards..Maggies Mama |

| it is really important that she EAT because she has such a big litter (and I assume they are nursing). She will need lots of calcium as well. search for "Welping pudding" in the archives. A lot of people on here have had success with that. Have you tried offering her any cottage cheese? |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | First congratulations, next she NEEDS to eat try mixing some cottage cheese with her puppy kibble and the whelping pudding is GREAT, I am weaning my Taffy of it now that her pups are 6 weeks old.. I gave her cottage cheese for breakfast with her kibble, then welping pudding mix with her kibble for lunch and another bowl right before I went to bed, and she had dry kibble available to her all the time. also PLENTY of water. and if I noticed that she was not eating for some reason, I also gave her some chicken broth mixed with her kibble she LOVED that.. again congratulations..and hope she starts eating for you.. hugs, Carmen in nj |

| I am scared . just got my first yorkie. Hello I just got my first baby girl she is 1pd 5oz at 11 weeks .I only got her last Saturday so it been 5 days. she had all her shots but she will not eat on her own or drink. I took her to the vet and he said he was worried about her because she is so small. she sleeps a lot. she will cry when she is in her crate to go to the bathroom. I don't know what to feed her. the vet gave her royal canine recovery, but she will not eat it. I also give her maple syrup for her sugar. can anyone help me. she will walk around but not for long she wants to be held. oh I don't know what I am doing when posting a new post. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Wow she is tiny.. get some Nutri cal puppy and give her some is better than the syrop. Also the food might be hard for her to chew, I would mush it with warm water or mix it with wet can food to make it easier to eat. get some Karo syrop the clear one and mix a drop or two in her drinking water that will make her water tasteful for now.. and WATCH her really close, she is so tiny that anything is important. best of luck.. hugs, Carmen in nj |
