Default What do u think of this?

I was contacted last night by a local breeder that also crossbreeds yorkies and poodles. Everyone Keeps telling me that my male who weighs 8 pounds is way to big to breed to a female yorkie, but what do u all think of breeding it with a poodle to make yorkiepoos. I know that you can AKC register them. That a puppy goes for $400.00 to $600.00.

There are enough mixed breed pups in shelters. Dont be a part of contributing to the problem.I would not breed your male just keep him as a pet

I agree with Chachi, and by the way, you can't register them with the AKC, who told you that?

Yes you can Regester them Akc, because my sister inlaw actually has yorkipoo and and its registered AKC. Where did you hear that you can't? I also contacted my local vet regarding this, and she told me that same thing, you can register them, and they are a new breed of dog..

The yorkie poos cant be registered with AKC because they arent pure bred. And yorkie poos arent their own breed. Yorkie poo is just a name unscrupulous breeders just breeding for money have given them. They are mutts

"they are a new breed of dog" they are a yorkie and a poodle which adds up to mixed-breed or mutt. AKC does not register mutts.

Default akc

A simple call to AKC will convince you that AKC ONLY registers purebred dogs from purebred parents.
ACA and many others will register mixed breeds.

A "yorkiepoo" is simply a mixed breed dog - a first generation cross between a purebred yorkie and a purebred poodle. It is not a new breed - it is a mixed breed dog. Both parents of the puppies may be AKC registered as they are purebred, but the mixed puppies can NOT be registered with the AKC. AKC will only register purebred puppies (and the mother and father must be AKC registered).

Please Please do not breed mixed breed dogs. There is just no purpose to it...there are already way too many homeless dogs. Look on petfinder.com and you'll find plenty of yorkie and poodle mixes up for adoption. Please don't add to this. Marketing these mixes as "designer dogs" and selling them for high prices is just wrong in my opinion.

May I ask you why you are so desperate to breed your dog? Breeding is not something to take lightly - it is a huge responsibility. My baby is almost 8lbs as well, and she's a perfect pet - she is spayed. You should have your dog neutered and just enjoy him as a pet. Most dogs just are not meant to be bred.

Here - easy to prove that AKC does Not register "yorkie-poos." See any on this list http://www.akc.org/breeds/complete_breed_list.cfm
? Sorry no. It is a mixed breed. It is easy to do your reseach - you just have to look in AKC web site. I did even try to do a search on AKC site for yorkiepoo, yorkipoo, yorkie-poo. And I got nothing. If they actually were recognizing them - the search should have pulled up something. Sorry. Could it have been another registry?

There are some registries called "vanity registries" that will register any dog. They appeal to unethical breeders who are trying to fool the uneducated public. I'm thinking about starting my own registry called "Teacup Yorkiepoos Limited" to register your dog, please send me money.

Why mix breed? Aren't U happy with U're Yorkie? I mean why do U want to take the Yorkie Breed and turn it into something it was never meant to be? If people keep doing this then well have no pure bred Yorkies. I think U should have U're male neutered now for U're still going to run the risk of U're larger puppies even if U breed him to a Yorkie or Poodle that is smaller then him, it could be he's larger due to his line throwing out larger puppies (Contact his breeder to see if this has happened) this is why our Tiffanie had her big babies, her mother did the same thing!

If U want to do this the right way, have him neutered and keep him as a pet, then educate U're self about how to breed Yorkies right and how & why not to mix breed. U'll be able to adopt U're babies out with peace of mind knowing U did it the right way and the people who adopt U're puppies will love U for this.

If U're just looking to put 2 dogs together then U're looking for heartache and U'll pass that heartache on to people who adopt those babies.

Please reconsider the "WHY" of U breeding U're Yorkie male.

Really do some soul searching on this before jumping into it, search here on YT, ask questions here on YT, we're here to help U if U'll take our advice and turn this into a learning experience.

Find U a GOOD QUALITY BREEDING Yorkie (Ask here on YT what to look for in a good Quality Breeding Yorkie males and females) and build U're way toward the AKC Standard. Go to AKC and read what the AKC Standard is for Yorkies, will U're male fit this standard? If not then neuter him, start over!!

Good luck and I hope U learn a lot, and hope this will help U choose what is right.

That a puppy goes for $400.00 to $600.00. - YorkyLover26
So why do you want to breed your male? It is expensive to raise yorkies. My litter I have now - my girl had a c-section during normal working hours (thank goodness) cost including the tail dockings and dewclaw removals - total 718.00. Bording during the 3 days before c-section - 38.00. Then had her back to the vet two days later - 125.00 for fluids, amoxicillin shot, perscription and glucose. Then she was so weak, she did not want to eat, so I spoon feed her for 7 days around the clock and checked puppies. Cost - no sleep for 7 days. I then brought her back 10 days later for stitch removal - cost 0, but had to drive there and back. Fecal check on pups 46.75. Plus I also paid for a stud fee, since I bred my female to someone else's dog. And I still have to get shots done - 3 sets. So it's not cheap to have pups. Don't forget you need to have your female and male tested - that cost too. Burcellosis test on female 37.00, but that is not the only test you need. I hope you have a lot of extra cash to hand out. Just something to think about!
P.S. I have only 2 pups (males).

Wow, some of these responses are a little harsh. The subject of breeding never fails to raise the emotional level here.
