| Wow So Much Stuff I have not been in a YT GE but the idea is very appealing. However after looking at some of the smilebox threads I am now scared. I don't know how I could be as creative and as generous. The rules say a min. of $40.00 but from the looks of the loot you guys are sending you must be spending well over $100.00 possibly even over $200.00. I don't want to join and then come out looking cheap, but I also don't want to break the bank. I am not sure how to ask this question because I assume you don't want to post what you spend, but for those of you that have done this several times if you could give me some hints on what you think the average amount is that would be great. I was amazed looking at gifts like cloud 9 beds, fancy toy boxes monogrammed apparel, etc. You all sure put together nice packages, I am very impressed. One last question, is the pairing done with opposite sexes or either or. thanks

| That's the main reason I haven't joined one yet. It looked like way over the stated limit was being spent often and I just hate to disappoint any perspective SB if I can't afford to send a huge box of expensive things.

| I volunteer to be your $40 buddy! I've never done a GE either.... I'd need another house to put doggie stuff in, lol... or the DH! or me!

| I too am hoping this next GE will be our first... Ii think I'm pretty good at buying people gifts, so I hope as long as mine are meaningful and thoughtful our buddy will be happy with what we get them, even if it doesn't come out costing over $100.

| Well everyone puts a list of the things they would “like” to have. I think if you just bought some of the things they want and put your own style and heart in it your buddy would be happy. For me it isn’t how much they spent or how many items I had- It’s to know they put time, effort and their heart in it- That’s all that matters to me. I think Admin just puts all the names in something and it randomly pairs them up... I am not too sure but I think thats how its done.

| I do think I'd be really intimidated if I got someone who's been in multiple GE's or one of the fantastic vendors on here..eek! Getting paired with someone who could just make whatever their heart desires...scary. But everyone seems appreciative and for Luma, just getting presents is so sweet we're really easy to please :P

| I know that I have tended to overspend......I try to cap it at $100 but fail miserably I, also, am in favor of a "cap" to help me to NOT overspend. It's really difficult when you love your SB and don't want them to be disappointed! But receiving, all I care about is that our SB put thought and care into our box and that makes us feel special!

| I would just feel so bad though if my SB sent me a $100.00 box and my little $40.00 or $50.00 one was what they got. I would be miserable so I can never participate without fear of that happening. But I can read all about the fun ya'll have! And even try to guess some of the clues.

| But if they are mad at getting a $50 box when they spent $100, why SHOULD you feel guilty? The minimum is $40. It should be out of the goodness of their heart that they gave so much. They should be ashamed of themselves if they expect that much in return. That's called being selfish. That being said, I'd be mad too if I got a bunch of dollar store items...it all comes down to how much thought was put into a box. I'll probably spend close to $100, not because I expect it in return, but because I love spoiling! That should be the true reason to spend that much.

| Surely no one who participated in the GE would give just dollar store items for the same reason I can't participate, fearing they would greatly disappoint their SB.

I agree with others, don't let the dollar amount stop you from participating. I think all that anyone cares about is the thought and love that goes in to putting your box together for your secret buddy. When I know I'm going about particpate in a GE, I start watching for sale items and stocking up and once I find out who my buddy is and what they would like to receive, I have a few personalized items made. And I don't necessarily send my buddy all of the items I've been buying. They can always be used in future GE's. In fact right now I have some Christmas items I've had since Christmas and hopefully will get to use them if I decide to participate in another GE. I've only participated in three and two out of the three were great. Unfortunately the last one was not so great.
