There have been issues in every GE.
I will unfortunately no longer be participating....
but will be watching from the sidelines.

It does sound like great fun for those in the midst of shopping, packing/sending, hinting, guessing, hoping, waiting, receiving, thanking/commenting, etc. I hope to participate when I can work again and can actually spend commensurate with what most are.

The gift exchanges are a ton of fun. We have a lot of fun shopping for our secret buddy and love keeping up on the hint threads. We spend quite a bit over the limit and I think having a cap on the spending would help.

However, while there are problems... I don't feel it's worth it to stop participating to avoid them. It would be like stopping driving a car because accidents happen.

I Loooove Shopping for others since Riley has so much, already.
I go to monthly yorkie meet-ups and have tons of other friends with pets, living in the city that I can buy for. I just popped by Petco, today and bought a co-worker several toys for her 13-week old puppy.

great responses, and thank you for your honesty, I was afraid I might be the only person wondering if I would I fall short because I was not sure how much to spend. From past experiences I know I get more excited giving stuff than receiving it but my gifts are not normally itemized and made public for everyone to read and in a way judge. I believe this is probably a catch 22 for the admin. because while I think it is important to say thank you and it is fun to see the boxes and their contents, it does sort of create a competition, or at least a feeling of the need to measure up. LOL I just found some very cute stuff at Wallmart, so I can just see my receiver trying to be nice and saying, oh how cute that Wallmart dress was. I love the concept behind the GE but I can see that it could also cause resentment so it makes me question if I should jump in.

I say jump in! They definitely are a lot of fun and 99.9% of the time everyone is overjoyed at what they receive from their secret buddy. I really miss the GE's and may give it one more shot some time this year. I think everyone should participate in at least one because they really are fun!

I am saddened to see anyone afraid to participate because they feel they need to spend well over the $40.00 limit for fear of feeling like they didn't do enough. I will echo the person who said I'll be your buddy if that's what keeps you from joining in! I do think the first time you participate it's all new, but I encourage you to give it a try. The only time I have ever witnessed any problems is when rules were not followed. And if that happened, the participating members (and even a few others) banned together to make sure the person wronged was taken care of. As much attention as something negative brings, it's also important to recognize how amazing the 99.9% of the others are. So c'mon join in!!! We'd love to have you!!

No your not the only one that feels that way. I as well have been afraid to do it. I in no way would want to insult any one at all. I love, love to shop for doggies.
So, I will watch from the side lines and AWWW over every one's Smilebox's. Heck I don't even know how to do a smile box.

Do you have Picasa ( Picasa ) on your computer? It's fairly easy, I plug in my camera, select Picasa on the screen that pops up, select import all, and all the pics are put into the Picasa program. Then I double click on a pic to open it for editing, I crop it, then I click on export. I select the size, usually 800, and it puts it in a new folder, I go there and double check the size for under 200kb, if it's over 200 I go back and export again but select 600, then check again for size. Then in a thread, I click the attachments, browse and select my pic, click on upload, then close that window. Then click attachments, insert all, and voila! Done!

If that's too confusing, PM me and you can email me pics I will resize for you. Or you can create a YT album... no size restrictions...
