Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Yep, that's how I do it too. Run the 2 basting stiches and pull by hand. I tried the ruffling foot attachment and was not a fan. I want to try it again one day, but not now. LOL

| I did it!!!! Ahhhh! It took over an hour, but I did it!! I created my first dress. It's a tad big on Stella because I just used the size the patten had, but I did it! I wouldn't trust my D Ring either, I'd say its more decoration than use! Lol! So be honest.....what do ya think?

| Ok, ok, maybe I lied. I've "sewn" before......a pillowcase in elementary school, and a blanket for my brother......well my mom helped with that when I was a kid. I can fix little things, buttons, holes inside a pocket. Nothing extreme. But with so much time on my hands, I have been practicing like a maniac!! Now if I can just figure out how to adjust a pattern to make it fit her.

| I had tons of trouble with the gathering method, I never could get it even and since I like a full shirt look I started doing sort of a pleating method. I just keep taking little pleat type tucks at the top and then put the pin in vertical. When finished I place in the skirt just to make sure the width is correct. Then I take it out and sew down all the pleats. The effect is not really pleats, just gathered. Also it helps if you make good notes pertaining to measurements, like what starting width works the best for your dog, then what ending length works best, then about how much you tuck. It took some practice to get the right sizing but now that I have it, the skirts come out pretty evenly gathered.

| your dress is so cute, hard to believe it is a first try. When you sew on the D ring you might want to run a seam on the top and bottom of the D ring, helps keep it in place better. Also if you like a really full skirt you will need to use more than double the fabric. I am always amazed at how much width I loose by a full gather.

| no I do it by machine, just flip it to the opposite side that you are stiching on. Just line it up so the foot is close to but not on top of the d ring. then flip the ring to the other side and do the same I also like to iron on interfacing between the bodice and the bodice lining in the area of the D ring. Lola can pull hard when walking so I like it to be very strong
