| leash lenghts I was wondering for you that make leashes or just use leashes how long to do you like them. I have been getting some matching leashes from the gal that makes Lola's harness dresses, she makes hers around 5'. I have been having her do mine at about 7' on even at 8' she seems to think the smaller the dog the shorter the leash should be. I tried to explain to her actually that should be reversed. Think about it, if you are 6' tall like my husband or even 5'5 like me, your leash needs to go down almost to the ground just to attach to a small dog. So that means there is very little sniffing room. For walks in our neighborhood by myself I like a longer leash so Lola can explore a little, with a five foot leash she can't get but about a foot away from me. With a larger dog like a lab, it has much shorter to go to reach the dog plus it is usually on a collar not in the middle of the back like with a harness so that gives you extra length. So it got me wondering what you guys like. For walks with other dogs or in crowded places I do use a shorter leash or roll mine up, LOL I have about 10 leashes now

| I use at least a 6 ft for my dogs. I've had shorter leashes ripped off my hand (hand inserted through the loop) when they go to take off after something. A longer leash somehow prevents this from happening.

| I prefer a longer leash, knowing that when it is not taut, it tends to get under the little dog's right leg, too, for some reason, if they dance around as Tibbe does! But since I let him sniff and walk ahead, roam to the end of it, etc., all he wants on part of our walk, I need a longer leash for that. I do have to help him get it front under his right front leg but that's okay! He's enjoying his walk and exploring, sniffing, etc. Then on the other part of the walk, I just wrap the leash around my right wrist to shorten it and Tibbe walks at my left foot at a good pace. So I'd agree that a longer leash is better for a dog you are going to let walk ahead and roam around on the walk.

| I use a 4 foot leash for Blazer and attatch it to his harness. I like feeling a little more in control with him and keeping him close.

| I like the 4' on Mimi & Momo. They walk right next to me, even a 5' one would be ok, but standard seems to be 4 or 6ft. For Princess & Turbo, a 6' 5/8" thin leash...they are speed walkers! I can't catch up, so longer the better. Who's the leader of this pack goes out the window. loll

| I use 6' leashes knotted together about 18"from Ziva and Abby's harnesses. It taught Abby to walk nicely right away. I was looking for a coupler but only found heavy hardware ones at the local pet shops.Landed up knotting them and it works great! |

| wow lots of preferences that's why I told the gal she needs to ask people what length they like. I also use a retractable leash when we are walking in a safe place, we do not have fenced in yard so I really like Lola to have a chance to run and explore on her walks, if going to an event or walking with other dogs we go for the shorter ones.

| that's why I like it because she runs back and fort and it doesn't get caught under her legs, but for walks with other dogs, epsecially if they are on retractables it is to long and gets tangled up with the other dogs leashes.
