| I agree, Dee, you shouldn't have to defend yourself when you were just sharing the good news. Congratulations, and here's to happy, healthy puppies!

| I am so amazed at all this over a comment on a puppy cull is a word used here in ky that is to place less than show in a home or a animal of any kind into another placement is does not mean the dog is bad just not to the show breeders standard many show breeders here use this word we are country people and we just use this word for less than perfect as for handlers i do know of a few that kept a dog to help support them showing other dogs even though they knew the dog would not finish i know a couple of yorkies poodle and maltese people that have had this happen to them So does having one litter out of champion lines mean i am a byb i also own a champion dog and a female hopefull just waiting to see if she breaks as i said all must get started some where i know many show breeders that have as many as 5 litters a year not all are show and must be placed so please tell me the difference show breeders also bred for the show dog but pets they place also help support there showing it is a very expensive and can cost up to 5000 for just a championship, specialty it just more expence to get into and not all are up to showing some can not handle the bickering that goes on between show people you must be tough to show a dog no matter what bred i showed gsd for 10 years so i know how tough it can get and how much can go into showing i have the highest respect for show people but i understand people wanting pets also. i guess in the future i will use my websters to make sure i am using the correct words for all so i do not offend anyone |

| i think I said i got Silk from a well known show breeder. Well, I did and not only that but Frankie and kandy both came to me straight from a show breeder that was downsizing due to disability. i hadn't thought of it that way before but i guess that's why I have had some show quality puppies from my litters. All three adult females from show breeders that are actively exhibiting. Now, dixie, bless her little heart, will probably just have little pet babies and that is fine. She is so sweet and is going to make a great little mama. I didn't get her from a showw background but I did buy her as a pup and raised her. |

Jessy, Learning time again....Culling is a common word used by show breeders....it is not derrogatory.....it means assessing your litter for your show quality....not that the litter isn't beautiful....but, one, just maybe one has that extra "I've got what it takes and I dare you not to put me up look".... Show Breeders that have been in this for countless number of years will tell you that they consider themselves very blessed if they get 1 possible show dog in every 6 litters.....2 It's a jackpot......and they get down on their knees and give thanks......dramatic, but oh so true.

I've got you beat....I'm 60.....started after I did my up front emersing myself in the breed.....countless years, months, days and hours of studying, genetics, breeding, pedigrees, going to shows and grooming.... I'm amazed when I see the Yorkboro's, Rothby, Pastoral women in the ring, women in the 60, 70 & 80s waltzing around that ring like they are still in their twenties.....If they can do it so can I.
