Instead of a bottle, try to get it to nurse from Mamma again. I keep my pups on a flat blanket when they are wee little so no one gets lost or seperated or smothers. Make sure the pup is eating, it is vital. Also, don't let anyone touch your pups but you til they get a little bigger and stronger. The first milk from their mother helps with their immune system. Please let us know how the pup that was tired is doing and if he is nursing now. I sure hope so .

bad news ladies. my sickly little pup passed away just a little while ago. i knew something was wrong. I had to be away from home for a few hours today and when i got back she wasnt doing too well. i worked in an emergency dept for seven years, so i began stimulating her and doing mouth to mouth to help her breathing. she didnt make it. i put her with her mother for her final minutes. please pray for this little one who has now gone on to a better place. thanks ps.. the other pups are doing well. i do not forsee any other tragedies.

It was probably a little premature since she whelped earlier than you expected. Was it the smallest? I have lost a couple within the first 24 hours myself. Right at first they seem normal and are trying to suckle along with the rest of them and then they go down hill very quickly. I hope it wasn't the tail docking. I've never lost one due to that, but I always do it about Day 4. Glad all the others are doing well.

I have a friend that is in vet school and she said that she probably had something wrong, and nature takes care of it in its own way. thanks for all your responses. this is my first litter that i have ever done. i have an animal rescue license, so i am always taking in animals, but i have never had one die. and to be that small. this is like losing one of my kids. and the look on moms face last night when i placed the pup in with her, was horrible. she already knew what had happend.
