She was spayed a long time ago and it was done at the earliest age safe for her. I don't know why the vet didn't take the teeth out then, but maybe they thought they'd come out on their own. I also think some of the vets around here look for every opportunity to make a buck rather than do what's best for the animal. Believe it or not, that's a common complaint around here. Will keep you all updated. | |

| Well, looks like they won't be letting me take the dog . The six year old, who never plays with the dog, said she loves the dog too much and doesn't want her to go away (poor kid's not learning anything valuable here). Anyway, my friend says she wants to get some training and will buy her better food to help her skin and hair. Funny thing is she thinks someone can just train the dog and then bring her home and all will be great. She doesn't understand that training is also for the owner as much as the dog...oh, well, I tried to explain that. Hopefully they'll at least get her inside and have her be apart of the family. However, I fear that once the baby starts crawling and gets into a doggy accident she'll be right back where she is now. Thanks again for all of your comments. |

| I'm so sorry to hear about this. Maybe you could talk her into getting a larger dog that wouldn't be so fragile, unless you think she would mistreat that dog too. You could report the problems to animal control. It's a very sticky situation. Good luck.

| We actually talked about that this afternoon. Our animal control has several absolutely beautiful Cocker Spaniels that are desperate. I think they'd be a little easier to train and would do fine in her fenced in backyard...the yorkie can get out as she's so small. Honestly I would love to take one of them but we have to get a low dander breed as my youngest has mild allergy and asthma. Thankfully the allergist said small and low dander would be great for our family. Anyway, not to get off the subject, I did bring that suggestion up to her and I think she's thinking about it. Definitely don't think animal control would do anything about ithe yorkie. She did get taken to the vet last week and has clean water and food (although it's totally the wrong kind). They have much worse to tend to than this...although it is sad enough to break our hearts. |
