Remember there are two files sizes you have to be concerned with. The overall file size (KB) and the pixels, as a non-donating member, the pixels can't be more than 75, and the overall size, can't be more than 20 KB.

also... it states this when i go to change my avatar... so it has to meet BOTH standards?

"Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 75 by 75 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller). "

It doesn't need to be 75x75, that would make it a square and your pictures are retangles, only one side has to be no bigger than 75, and if I keep it in the same proportion, that works out to 75x56 for the way you have your pictures cropped. Some people add a border to the top and bottom to get the square look when making an avatar, but the actual picture is no bigger.
Here's your avatar in a size that yorkietalk will accept. Its only 14 KB so you could add a picture. It's too small to upload to this thread, but just click on the link, and wait for it to start moving and save it. Just make sure when you make an avatar the longest side of the avatar is no bigger than 75, yours was 80.

wOOt wOOt!!! it werks! ok so NOW i know... kinda poopy that you have to meet both standards. Need to ask admin to change that statment. Anywayz, thanks a bunch! i really does appreciate it :) now its time to PLAY :D

Great, I'm glad you got it to work! The 75 pixels refers to the actual physical space it takes up on the page, like an inch or so. The KB refers to how many pictures are in the file, but a larger pixel size also uses more KB's.

Yours is adorable, I love that you added special pictures such as the magazine picture, and title page. Lots of good websites for editing pictures, and making them unique, and then just using this program to put them together in one file. Great job!

thats odd. I got it to work a few times, but now the downloads to my computer don't work as an animation... I did save one that works, but wanted to make it better.

You have to make sure you save it without changing the file name, if you save it as anything other than a gif file, it will stop moving and only the first picture shows up. Also when you upload them to Yorkietalk, they have to be within file size limits, it explains those limits on the page where you uploaded your avatar. The one you made is really cute!

I saved the file, didn't have the option to change the name of the file, that wasn't the problem. I think the problem lies within my Mac. The first gifs I made worked, then they stopped working altogether! I did manage to get that gif small enough to work, but I was trying to edit it further, and when I saved those changes they stopped working. I'm sure it has something to do with my computer. I plan on doing a reboot to see if that helps. I tried taking the bigger files that worked out of the trash, and those stopped working (flashing) too. :eek:

You would need a gif program to edit the file, if you are using the online site to upload the pictures, you should edit them before you upload them, a regular graphic program won't allow you to change the size of the animated gif, it must be a gif program. If you made some avatars that you want to use, you can upload them to your album, and link them to me. I can easily change them to a size you can use.

I may have gotten you confused with someone else, are you using the photoscape program, or the online site?

This is the program I used, it worked for awhile, then poof! I had the file size small enough, in fact, there was room to expand them, but I could not...

Here's PhotoScapes newest program. PhotoScape - Reviews and free PhotoScape downloads at Download.com, if you have an older version, it automatically allows you to update.

Please remember you have to choose a language when you download the program, if you choose the wrong language, it's best to remove the program by going to the "Control Panel", and choosing and "Remove Program.
