| Thanks. Thanks Natalie for answering. As I said on another thread I'm not trying to ruffle feathers. I just asked since It's always been my understanding that the breeding dam had to be atleast five pounds to safely breed. Elaine. |

Dee, Natalie has lovely lil ones. Questions are only being asked to better educate themselves. Countless threads have been posted on "Teacups" and the ramifications of breeding small females. Teacups and Doll faced, etc have been proven to be used as an advertising ploy to the unsuspecting public to pull in major $$$$$. Statistically, lil ones have been proven to require more care and may have hidden medical issues that may pop up at any given time. Tiny genetics (never heard that term). As any reputable that has studied genetics knows, there is no such term. Tinies can be obtained by tightly line breeding or inbreeding. Tinies can appear in any breeders program, however, reputable breeders do not purposely breed for it.

However, breeding for tinies is not my practice, so far I've never had one....but, if I did, it would not be sold but, placed in an approved home that was familiar in the care of a wee one.

| Why is that? So that there will be no worries about people posting their concern regarding very small breeding females? I apparently misunderstood the appeal of the 'Featured Breeders' section. I thought it was for responsible, ethical, proven breeders (who provide proof of such to Admin)--a way to set them apart from the rest, not for people to use only as a 'safe haven' to avoid unwanted comments. I hope this is just a misconception... |

It was my understanding that the featured breeders section (and that was in the early stages of being set up) would be for those that had truely proven themselves and would have to have been a member of YT for a set length of time.....I don't know the reasoning behind the rules that Admin has posted in the Featured Breeder section, I'm sure there was a great deal of thought. Just my opinion but, I would think a featured breeder would have to do more for the privledge than just breeding for 1 year and provide a contract with a guarantee. I would love YT to be a safe haven for all yorkie lovers to come to, to become educated and have all their yorkie questions answered.
