looking for a 3-4lb male in ohio i am looking for a 3-4lb male in ohio.... i am looking for a very high quality pup that would come with a genetic health guarentee. i spent good money on the male i have and just found out he has bad knees.... i WILL NOT breed a dog unless they are perfect and he was untill our last visit to the vet. i have become so attached that i cant get rid of him so im going to neuter him and be extra causious on my next purchase..... im willing to go to the surrounding states but i do want to pick up my pup rather than putting him on a plane.... please anyone who knows anyone or anyone who has an outstanding male under 4lbs please contact me, i appreciate it.

just a few thoughts HI, DID the vet get specific? Is it the front or rear joints? Persistent or intermittent symptoms? As a side note, I have found: 1-If your male is very small (and it’s the front) are you sure it’s not nutritional Ricketts? While this ISNT reversible it can be diagnosed with an X-ray, and will give you a clearer picture of the dogs overall possibilities/quality etc. 2-If the rear, IS it a luxating Patella, or is it an injury or disease? Have you looked at the animal from the rear to see the leg structure from the hips to the pastern is straight? Is a pronounced bowing of the legs visible? Misalignment? In/out pointing of paws? Are you sure it’s the knees and not hips? I ask because I had to look hard to find a Vet who was knowledgeable on toy breeds and genetics and that had the experience to work with them. Are the siblings/parents displaying this also? Did the breeder offer ANY insight? Have you recontacted the breeder to ask questions? If this IS genetic, is it selective (every other or later litter) in reoccurrence? Are you sure its not a recessive trait easily breed out? I have to admit, as much as I love my Yorkies, I have only ever heard of one truly perfect animal – that one is described in the AKC standard. I still want to see him some day! SJ

it is a luxating patella and yes the vet says it is inherited and it will be passed to his pups. there are plenty of pups out there that have no problems health wise... thats the pup i want to breed... i could not sell a pup knowing that its father could have passed down a hereditary problem. that is like a handycap and who wants to pay for a pup that will have problems all its life. i wouldnt want to and im upset that i did. i have a female who is as close to perfect as you can get... she is healthy no hereditary problems and i want a male as good as her...

I am hoping to make it. It should be a good place for you to talk to breeders about a male, or get contacts to ask later. Sometimes they don't talk much at the show.

im not so sure i trust breeders at shows... i bought my male from a lady who shows her dogs and she obviously sells her junk and keeps the good dogs... i just lost a lot of trust for breeders after being burnt. im still going to try to go... just to check it out though.

Maybe what you should look for is stud service from a dog that looks like what you want and is old enough to have health clearances and such. You can never be sure a pup will develop into stud material. I hope you get things worked out with your breeder and your pup gets fixed up soon. I wish you luck.
