| looking in Indiana My husband and I are looking for a miniture or tea cup yorkie (between 2-5 lbs). It is for our daughter who turns 17 on April 30th. We have had some setbacks this year and are only able to spend around 2-3 hundred dollars. My husband had shoulder surgery and had been unable to work for 2 months and my daughter just had hip surgery for a birth defect. Her dalmation that she had since she was 1 year old died, and she has been wanting a small dog and fell in love with the miniature yorkies. Even with the circumstances, I have saved for her birthday, but did not realize that yorkies priced so high. I am sorry to ramble on so much, but I was hoping that someone might be able to help us out or know someone that would. Thank you so much for your patience. We would give this dog the best home with lots of love. Thank you again, Teresa (tnacrelli6@cs.com) |

| Hi and welcome! We are a passionate bunch of Yorkie people who work to educate other members or friends. The first thing is..there is no such thing as teacup or standard Yorkies. Only one standard for anything but they are toys and weigh to 7 pounds. Since there is NO guideline for any other size, any breeder can sell anything and call it by any name and take good money out of the pockets of an uneducated buyer. I would suggest you look at the AKC standards for Yorkies; look on sites that have info about the pros and cons of Yorkies and their ownership. Learn the genetic problems they are prone to. Read lots of posts on this and other forums and you will learn of the problems we all have had. I can say for sure, you will not find a healthy tiny Yorkie in your price range. Why do you want such a small Yorkie? The smaller ones run around $2000.00 and up! In the rare instance you see one for that price, your first question should "What is the problem(s) with this baby?" I would suggest you take your time and learn all you can about the breed and breeders and save some more so you can have a wider range of selections. If you have questions that we on this forum can help with, feel free to PM me or someone else who breeds and has long-time experience.. |

| I am in Indiana and can give you the name of a breeder. Her prices are higher than you are wanting however. She doe not breed for tcups. Her dogs are in the 5 lb range. I did get a smaller one. She was the smallest of the litter. Shes a nice lady. The only drawback is I think she gives the puppies out too early. (8wks) Her prices when I purchased were $600 for males, $900 for females. This was right in line with what other breeders were asking in this area. Let me know if you are interested.
