| Looking for small yorkie in California :) I'm looking for another yorkie to purchase within the next few months. I live in the Los Angeles area, but am willing to drive quite a distance. Here is the criteria for the dog I'm looking for. - Preferably a female (to avoid conflicts with my current dog) - Mature to about 4.5lbs. or less. - Adhere to AKC standards (straight back, straight silky coat, etc.) - Doll-like face.. shorter snout. - Preferably blue/tan color coat. - Must be able to see the dog in person and both parents before I purchase. I have researched a few breeders and I've narrowed it down to two so far. Cindy Landry (Scruffy's) and Linda Bush (Bejaze). The first breeder isn't responding to my e-mails and Linda is expecting a litter in the summer.. but sells with a spay/neuter contract which I want to avoid. Anyone have any recommendations? I am also willing to fly if the prices of the puppies are reasonable enough to cover the cost of my flight. I'm trying to avoid dealing with bad breeders.. I bought Lucky and he's ridiculously shy, very picky with what he eats, has a roached back, hard to manage cottony thin coat, and throws up every day (vet says he's healthy though). I called the breeder and she told me to sell the dog if I didn't like it.. and denies that the roached back is a defect and accused me of starving the dog. (*cough* don't buy from wee-r-yorkies)

| Reputable breeders will only sell pet quality Yorkies with limited registration. It is the only way to maintain quality control. They would keep potential breeders and show quality for their own or sell to other experienced breeders. How big is Lucky? Did the breeder think he would be small? It sounds like you are disappointed or surprised by his size and she claims to breed for tiny. |

| Lucky is actually 4.8lbs and is fully grown. He is a good size, not too big, not too small. I want the female I'm getting to be a bit smaller though. I do not want to spay the female though. I don't plan to breed it as I don't want to risk losing her.. and Lucky is neutered so there wont be any problems. If I'm going to be paying upwards $2000 for a dog, I want full registration on it. I was a bit disappointed because I paid a hefty price for a quality dog and I got one that doesn't meet the standard. Like I said, I have a hard time buying him treats that he likes, and his coat is so hard to manage. She claimed champion lines and the pedigree says otherwise.

| The standard yorkie has a straight back, a roached back is just a term used to describe a back that is arched. The dog gets it genetically. Does not affect the dogs health.. it may if it's severely arched.

| I have very close to what you are looking for with two exceptions. We have a : 3-4 lbs adult sized pup who is 11 weeks old short baby doll face, great dimensions short legs, purse baby Black and tan and a male We are in California, in Northern California, yet travel to my moms house in Orange county (southern California) monthly. We have the parents in home and socialize the pups in the kitchen with us daily. This pup is better than a pet quality. It is hard to price him! |
