| Looking for female Yorkie companion I live with husband and 3 children(all boys) there is too much testosterone in my home. We need more girl power!! I am alone 8 hours out of the day and really would love to have a female Yorkie to love and care for. (Everyone is at work or school) Unfortunately all the Yorkies I have seen in pet stores or online are $1000 or more. Can anyone help me find anyone in Illinois or Indiana who are giving away Yorkies or one for $200 or less? I promise to give her a good home and spoil her rotten. Thank you for any help. |

| If we here of someone We will let you know. We have puppies still, and under a thousand dollars. Problem is all the costs from (say having 3 puppy checks each, dew claws done, tails docked, worming, 6 and 8 wk puppy healthchecks, and 2 vaccinations, all before we would let them go to new homes hopefully at 8 wks of age). It is hard to sell a Yorkie for 200.00. But, we are in Kansas, and noticed you were looking in Illinois or Indiana. We have had some puppies recently from our AKC Yorkie house pets. (Well they are 6 wks old now). We weren't aware of all that is involved in having a litter, but we appreciate this site and all the friendly people's advice and experience we have recieved and are still recieving Keep up the search and good luck. | Well, it doesn't have to be a puppy. Maybe if I could find one that's 3 years old or younger. Can you tell me more about yorkie rescue? And where is the best place to find the ads where people are moving or whatever circumstancial reason and they can't keep their Yorkie? |

| I've seen Yorkies available in Missouri and Illinois (I'm from Chicago) Re: Mia ad - "Mia is looking for a new lap on which to spend much of her time." Lap? Does anyone know of a Yorkie who spends much of his/her time on a lap? Felicia - I don't mean this to sound negative, but I think you may have to be more open about maybe getting a boy Yorkie as well, if you're going to look into a rescue. | I went to AKC.com and found this. scroll down and click on the breed you want. The first couple pages are for sale and a bit pricey, but then it goes to adoptions. Lots of male and female yorkies that need rescued..

| Just want to let you know that while you might have your heart set on a younger dog (3 or below), Yorkies do tend to live quite a long time. I say this because I got Sandy through petfinder, she's about 8 years old and a wonderful companion. I didn't have to go through a lot of the hard puppy things with her and she ended up being probably the best dog I've had so far in my life. You would never know she hasn't been our dog her whole life. I'd keep an open mind as far as age goes. You'd be surprised at what you can find. It took me a year of searching before I found Sandy. I had started out wanting a Yorkie puppy and ended up with an older mix. It all worked out perfectly for me, and I felt like I was doing a good thing for Sandy as well. It's hard to find a Yorkie for under $500 dollars anywhere. You may have to explore other breeds or options if you have your heart set on a young female puppy.

| Aimee, PLEASE don't ever buy a puppy at a pet store! Try to boycott any pet store that sells puupies too! I won't buy anything from one that sells puppies! That said, have you tried www.puppymillrescue.com or www.yorkshireterrierrescue.com? There are so many who need homes. I rescued my late Scruffy from a kill shelter years ago. In fact, someone from yorkietalk told me about him! He lived 5 years longer than the vet said he would! Good luck on your search! Elizabeth |

| I have never and never will buy a puppy from a pet store. I got Sandy from Pet FINDER, a site with dogs from shelters. Sorry to confuse you. Tia was from a reputable breeder as well. http://petfinder.com
