YorkieTalk Newbie! | Looking for a Female Yorkie, or Teacup Yorkie in NJ area About a month ago, we had to put down our love, our teddy bear, Brianna, she was a Long haired Chihuahua. Since then we have been looking for an adorable little female Yorkie to join our family. If anyone lives in the New Jersey area, and is a REAL breeder that sells Yorkies, please let me know. Thank you, We are a very loving family, we have another chihuahua and a Tabby cat, Also have a child age 3. Thanks |

| You might want to try looking at the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America's (ytca.org) website on their breeder referral page. They have a list of breeders in ppl's states/areas. Please be careful, there really isn't anything called a "teacup" in the yorkshire terrier breed. They are all toys - just some a little bigger and some a little smaller.

| Hi, I'm also in NJ & wish you luck in your search. I don't have any breeder info as I've always had rescues. Have you checked your local shelters? It's been my expierence that many do not post all of the adoptable dogs on their web sites. You either have to call or visit them. When my boys were small, I tried breeders, but none would sell to me as I had children under 10 years old. It didn't matter to them when I assured them my children were gentle & knew not to pick up the pups. None of the reputable breeders would even consider selling to me, so I turned to the shelters, and I'm SO glad I did! I adopted my 1st yorkie 20+ years ago from the Newark animal shelter. She was a "teapot" yorkie, and was perfect for a family with young children. My boys didn't ever pick her up, but they were able to play with her without my fearing she was too fragile. She was about 9#'s, and was part of our family for many many years. My son (adult now) has a 2.5# long haired chi. He is the funniest, cookiest little love bug ever! Totally different personality than a yorkie, but just as loveable! Good luck in your search!! |
