Hi,
I'm also in NJ & wish you luck in your search. I don't have any breeder info as I've always had rescues. Have you checked your local shelters? It's been my expierence that many do not post all of the adoptable dogs on their web sites. You either have to call or visit them.
When my boys were small, I tried breeders, but none would sell to me as I had children under 10 years old. It didn't matter to them when I assured them my children were gentle & knew not to pick up the pups. None of the reputable breeders would even consider selling to me, so I turned to the shelters, and I'm SO glad I did! I adopted my 1st yorkie 20+ years ago from the Newark animal shelter. She was a "teapot" yorkie, and was perfect for a family with young children. My boys didn't ever pick her up, but they were able to play with her without my fearing she was too fragile. She was about 9#'s, and was part of our family for many many years.
My son (adult now) has a 2.5# long haired chi. He is the funniest, cookiest little love bug ever! Totally different personality than a yorkie, but just as loveable!
Good luck in your search!! |
